Abby Collins was born on June 21, 2003 in Georgia to Keith and Amy Collins. She has a younger brother Walker, a dog named Goldie and a cat, Midnight. Abby is an honor student at Georgia Connections Academy and she will graduate from high school in 2021. She enjoys working part-time at the Jefferson Rec. Department with their gymnastics program, especially the pre-school gymnastics program. She also enjoys traveling. Her favorite place that she has visited is Maui but she dreams of visiting Paris soon.
Abby started gymnastics when she was two years old in Mommy and Me classes. Abby has been training at Georgia Gymnastics Academy in Lawrenceville, GA since 2012. As a level 7 gymnast in 2013, Abby finished fifth in the all-around and first on vault at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships. Abby moved up to level 8 for the 2014 season. She placed in the top ten in the all-around with a 37.050 and sixth on uneven bars scoring a 9.400 at the State Championships. At the Region 8 Championships, she finished in the top ten in the all-around and seventh on vault.
In 2015 as a first-year level 9 gymnast, Abby earned a silver medal on uneven bars at the State Championships, qualifying to Region 8 Championships. In 2016, She finished sixth in the all-around and third on uneven bars at the State Championships. At the Region 8 Championships, she finished in the top eight on uneven bars with a 9.250. Abby was unable to compete on all events due to an injury in 2017 but she did qualify to the State Championships. Abby moved up to level 10 for the 2018 season. She earned a bronze medal on uneven bars at the State Championships. Following her 2018 season, she moved to Georgia Elite Gymnastics.
Abby trains 20 hours per week at Georgia Elite Gymnastics in Watkinsville, GA under coaches Pete Arenas, Cassidy McComb Bernstein and Doug McGavin. She is working hard to qualify to the Junior Olympic Nationals and to obtain a college gymnastics scholarship.
