Alexis had a lot of energy as a young girl. She took dance and gymnastics classes for fun. Her family moved to North Carolina from Iowa when she was six years old. After getting settled into a new community and school, her parents enrolled her into a classical ballet school in Charlotte, NC. She hated it and cried almost every day. They then found Everest Gymnastics Training Center, which was close to where they lived. Alexis took a trial class and the coach asked if she would be interested in competing. Alexis has been training at Everest Gymnastics her whole competitive gymnastics career.
As a level 7 gymnast in 2012, Alexis placed first in the all-around at the Crown of the Carolinas, Atlanta Crown Invitational and Sweetheart Invitational. At the Everest Classic, she placed third in the all-around and second on uneven bars. Alexis finished sixth in the all-around, first on uneven bars and second on vault at the State Championships.
In 2013, Alexis moved up to level 8. She placed in the top two at the Gala, Atlanta Crown Invitational, Parkettes Invitational and Everest Classic. At the State Championships, she placed eighth in the all-around and first on uneven bars. Alexis concluded her season at the Region 8 Championships where she placed third in the all-around and second on uneven bars.
Alexis started competing level 9 for the 2014 season. She placed in the top three on uneven bars at the Gala, Buckeye Classic and Greensboro Invitational. At the Chow's Winter Classic, she placed second in the all-around and first on uneven bars. Alexis placed second in the all-around and first on uneven bars at the Everest Classic. At the State Championships, she finished third in the all-around, second on uneven bars and third on balance beam. Alexis had a great meet at the Region 8 Championships, finishing seventh in the all-around and first on uneven bars. She was the first alternate for the Level 9 Eastern Nationals.
Alexis was unable to compete in 2015 due to an injury. In 2016, Alexis finished seventh on uneven bars at the State Championships and Region 8 Championships scoring a 9.175 and 9.375 respectively.
Currently, Alexis preparing for the 2017 season as a level 10 gymnast. She trains 28-30 hours per week at Everest Gymnastics in Huntersville, NC under coaches Qi Han, Yiwen Chen and Nikolai Cherchen. Her long-term goal is to pursue her passion for gymnastics at the college level.
