At the age of three, Alyssa started taking recreational classes at World Olympic Gymnastics Academy and she has been there ever since. At the beginning of her gymnastics career, she trained under coaches Laurie Dix and Evegeny Indekov.

Alyssa competed as a level 4 gymnast in 2004 and level 5 in 2005. She placed first on vault and uneven bars at the 2005 Rising Stars meet. She placed in the top 15 at the District Championships. She qualified for the State Championships in the silver division where she won a bronze medal on vault. She continued competing level 5 in the fall of 2006. She placed second in the all-around at the District Championships. At the North State Championships, she placed first on floor exercise and third in the all-around. She competed as a level 6 gymnast in the spring of 2007. Alyssa won the floor exercise title at the WOGA Classic.

She moved up to level 7 for the 2008 season. Alyssa placed first on uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercise and in the all-around at the WOGA Classic. At the AOGC Invitational, she finished second on balance beam. Alyssa ended her 2008 season by finishing second on uneven bars and fifth in the all-around at the Level 7 State Championships.

In 2009, Alyssa competed as a level 8 gymnast. She finished first on balance beam, floor exercise and in the all-around at the Metroplex Challenge. At the WOGA Classic, she earned gold medals on vault, balance beam and in the all-around. Alyssa finished first on floor exercise at the Great West Gymfest. At the Rose City Classic, she finished first on vault, floor exercise and in the all-around. At the Level 8 State Championships, Alyssa won gold medals on vault, uneven bars, floor exercise and in the all-around. She ended her level 8 season by winning the balance beam, floor exercise and all-around titles at the Level 8 Regionals.

Alyssa started her 2010 level 9 season at the Metroplex Challenge where she placed first on vault and second in the all-around. She also earned her international elite compulsory score at this meet. At the WOGA Classic, she won gold medals on vault and balance beam. Alyssa finished first on vault, uneven bars, balance beam and in the all-around at the Pikes Peak Cup. She swept the gold medals at the Houston National Invitational. At the Level 9 Regionals, she earned gold medals on uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercise and in the all-around. Alyssa ended her level 9 season by winning uneven bars, balance beam and the all-around at the Level 9 Western Nationals. In July, she qualified to junior international elite and the VISA Championships at the Texas National Elite Qualifier. In August, Alyssa placed 34th overall at the VISA Championships in Hartford, CT.. In late December, she traveled to Russia for the Voronin Cup where she finished fifth in the all-around. In 2011, Alyssa finished second in the all-around and first on floor exercise at the WOGA National Elite Qualifier. She was unable to compete rest of the 2011 due to an injury.

Currently, Alyssa trains 35 hours per week at World Olympic Gymnastics Academy under coaches Laurent Landi and Cecile Canqueteau-Landi. She is preparing for the upcoming 2013 season as a junior international elite gymnast.

Alyssa Lyn Baumann was born on May 17, 1998 in Dallas, Texas to Greg and Jarol. She has two younger sisters, Rachel (10) and Kaylee (6). Rachel is a level 8 gymnast from WOGA. Currently, Alyssa is in eighth grade at Spring Creek Academy. During her spare time, she likes to go swimming and shopping.
