Alyssa was born on July 1, 1999 in Buffalo, New York. She currently lives in Angola, New York with her mom, Kelly and younger brother, Nolan. During Alyssa's spare time, she enjoys spending time with her friends, going to the beach and shopping. Alyssa is a senior at Lake Shore High School, graduating in the spring of 2017. She is a strong student where she is currently ranked in the top 10 of her class and is the member of National Junior Honor Society. Alyssa also runs on the Varsity track team.
Alyssa's mother took gymnastics when she was young, so when Alyssa was three years old, her mother was looking to get her involved in something. She knew that gymnastics provided a great basis for anything Alyssa wanted to do. It builds strength, flexibility and general healthy living. As Alyssa progressed, it became obvious that she had a true love for the sport. She became very determined to succeed in a sport that seemed to be a natural love. She never looked back from there!
Alyssa competed as a level 6 gymnast during the 2009-2010 season. She skipped level 7 and started competing level 8 in the 2011 season. She finished first on vault at the Stars and Stripes Invitational and fifth in the all-around at the I Love NY Cup. In 2012, Alyssa continued competing level 8. She had a great meet at the State Championships where she scored a 37.000, her career-high AA score and placed fourth on vault. At the Region 6 Championships, she finished seventh in the all-around and fifth on balance beam.
Alyssa moved up to level 9 for the 2013 season. She finished fourth in the all-around and first on uneven bars at the State Championships. She qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals after finishing fifth on vault, uneven bars and in the all-around at the Regionals. At the Easterns, she finished in the top ten on uneven bars. In 2014, Alyssa continued competing level 9. At the State Championships, she finished first on vault, balance beam and in the all-around. She placed third in the all-around, second on vault and third on balance beam at the Region 6 Championships. She qualfied to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals in Florida, finishing second in the all-around, third on floor exercise, fifth on balance beam and seventh on vault.
As a first-year level 10 gymnast in 2015, Alyssa placed fifth in the all-around and fourth on vault and uneven bars at the State Championships. She won the vault title with a 9.500 at the Region 6 Championships and finished 11th overall. Alyssa competed at the Junior Olympic NIT as a vault specialist. In 2016, Alyssa finished second in the all-around and fourth on vault and balance beam at the Region 6 Championships. She qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Ft. Worth, TX where she scored a 9.375 on vault, 9.325 on uneven bars and 9.400 on balance beam.
Currently, Alyssa is preparing for the 2017 season as a level 10 gymnast. She trains 20 hours per week at Hamburg Gymnastics in New York under coach Maria Mastrocicco. She would like to earn the privilege to be part of a Division 1 college gymnastics team.
