Biography : Amanda's Favorites : Personal Facts
Amanda began gymnastics at the age of four at Cincinnati Gymnastics Academy (CGA) after walking on four-inch logs across Amanda's yard. She has been training at CGA ever since. In 2004, Amanda competed as a level eight gymnast. She finished third on balance beam at the Level 8 Regional Championships. She moved up to level nine in 2005. Amanda won a bronze medal on balance beam at the Buckeye Classic. She finished fourth on balance beam and 11th in the all-around at the Level 9 Regional Championships. This qualified her for the Level 9 Eastern National Championships, where she finished in the top twenty all-around and fourth on balance beam.
In 2006, Amanda competed level nine again. She finished first in the all-around at the Fiesta Bowl Invitational and the Coaches Cup. At the Level 9 Regional Championships, she won the floor exercise title and finished fifth in the all-around. Amanda's final meet of the season was the Level 9 Eastern National Championships. There, she won uneven bars, floor exercise and the all-around titles! In the summer, she qualified to pre-elite and placed fourth overall at the US Challenge.
Amanda moved up to level ten in 2007. Amanda won the IGI Chicago Style and Coaches Cup. At the Ohio State Championships, she won the all-around, vault and floor exercise titles. She won the Junior Olympic National Championships! Besides the all-around title, she also won balance beam and floor exercise titles. After the level ten season, Amanda qualified to junior international elite as well as qualified for the US National Championships at the US Classic. At Amanda's first US National Championship, she placed 14th in the all-around after both days of competition. She missed making the US National Team by two slots.
Amanda started off the 2008 season at CGA's hosted meet, the Coaches Spectacular. She only competed in two events, due to a healing injury. There, she placed third on uneven bars and second on balance beam under level 10 rules. Amanda competed at the US Classic, where she finished fourth in the all-around as well as second on balance beam and floor exercise. This qualified Amanda to her second US National Championships. Amanda had a great showing at the US Nationals, finishing fifth overall on day one and third overall on day two. With her combined scores for both days, Amanda was fifth in the all-around, making her first Junior US National Team. Amanda got her first international assignment to International Gymnastics Challenge in Beglium, where she finished third in the all-around.
In July 2009, Amanda traveled to the US Covergirl Classic in Des Moines, Iowa, where she finished 14th in the all-around and second on floor exercise. At the VISA Championships in Dallas, Texas, Amanda finished fifth in the all-around, sixth on uneven bars and ninth on balance beam. There, she qualified to the US National Team for the second time. In the end of October, Amanda was assigned to International Tournament of Pas-de-Calais in France. On the first day of the competition in France, Amanda won the all-around title in the junior division and won the team gold medal with teammate Cassie Whitcomb. On the second day during the event finals, Amanda won a bronze medal on uneven bars and a gold medal on floor exercise.
Amanda started her 2010 season at the Coaches Spectacular, where she won gold medals on uneven bars and balance beam. In March, Amanda received another international assignment at the ITrofeo Citta di Jesolo in Italy. There, she helped the USA team to win the gold team medal ahead of Russia and Italy. Individually, she finished sixth in the all-around. In July, Amanda traveled to Chicago, IL for the US Covergirl Classic, where she finished second in the all-around, fifth on vault and sixth on floor exercise. Unfortunately, Amanda was unable to compete at the VISA Championships due to strained Achilles.
In 2011, Amanda competed in two small competitions where placed first on balance beam title at the Coaches Spectacular and finished first on uneven bars and balance beam at the Buckeye Classic. In March, Amanda was selected to represent the USA team at the City of Jesolo Trophy in Italy where she helped the USA team to win the team title. Individually, Amanda placed eighth in the all-around and fourth on uneven bars. She competed on uneven bars and balance beam at both US Covergirl Classic and VISA Championships.
Amanda trains 32 hours per week at Cincinnati Gymnastics Academy (CGA) under coaches Mary Lee Tracy and Amy Wert. She is preparing for the upcoming 2012 season as a senior international elite gymnast.
Amanda Rose Jetter was born on November 6, 1994 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Gerald and Denise. She has an older brother, Derek and two dogs, Bently and Oreo. Currently, Amanda is in 11th grade at Milford High School. She has verbally committed to the University of Alabama where she plans on joining the gymnastics team in the fall of 2012.
