Andavea, or Andy as she is known in the gymnastics world, began gymnastics at the age of seven. Her grandparents enrolled Andy into gymnastics for fun. She trained at Lafleur's Largo, Cobb County and Cartersville Twisters during her early years of training. She was invited to join the level four team at Cobb County in Georgia. After competing once, she moved to Cartersville Twisters. She competed once as a level five then moved up to level six. She won the Level 6 State beam and floor titles. After Andy's 2006 season, she and her family moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where began training at Great American Gymnastics Express under coaches Al and Armine Fong.
In 2007, Andy competed as a level eight. At the WOGA Classic, she finished fourth on floor exercise. She then finished second in the all-around and won vault and balance beam titles at the Spirit of the Flame Challenge in California. At her home meet, the Dragon Invitational, she again took second in the all-around as well as silver medals on balance beam and floor exercise. At the Rising States Invitational, she finished second in the all-around. Andy won the Level 8 Missouri State all-around, balance beam and floor exercise titles. At Level 8 Regionals, she finished third in the all-around and second on balance beam and floor exercise.
Andy began competing for Chow's Gymnastics with Liang Chow and Liwen Zhuang after her 2007 season. As a level 9, she won the NAWGJ Judges Cup. At the Rising Stars Invitational, she won uneven bars and floor exercise. Andy then placed third in the all-around at the Gymquarters Invitational. At the Golden Invitational, she won uneven bars, balance beam and the all-around titles. She continued having a great season at the Level 9 Iowa State Championships, where she won uneven bars and the all-around titles as well as second on balance beam and floor exercise. At the Level 9 Regionals, she finished fifth in the all-around. There, she qualified to the Level 9 Western Championships, where Andy finished in the top twenty. After Andy's 2008 season, Andy trained at Triad Gymnastics in Iowa for a brief period of time. Andy was unable to compete most of 2010 season because of a sustained muscle injury. In July, Andy qualified to junior pre-elite.
Currently, Andy is training at Elite Champion Gymnastics with Marcus and Jana Harlin. Andy is looking forward for the 2011 season, where she hopes to qualify to junior international elite.
Andavea Nita-Alberta Alexander (pronounced "Ann-Dave-E-Uh") was born on March 28, 1996 in Florida. Andavea's middle name was named after her grandmother, Nita and grandfather, Albert. Currently, Andavea lives in Plano, Texas with her parents (David and Andrea) and two siblings (Orianne, 14 and Tighearnan, 7). Andy has lived in eight states and moved over a dozen times. Andy is a homeschooled ninth grader, where her favorite school subject is math. During Andy's spare time, she likes to create abstract art, paint/decorate her nails (and then taking it all off for meets, playing board games and reading Manga and other series.
