Anne Marie Johnson was born on July 14, 1998 in Maplewood, MN to Leo and RaeAnne Johnson. She has two older brothers, Stephen and Aba and one older sister, Sarah. During Annie's spare time, she enjoys swimming, reading, hiking and spending time with her family and friends.
Annie's parents put her into a recreational program to work off some energy while her brother had basketball practice in the gym next to it. However, overtime Annie began to fall in love with everything about the sport, whether it was being apart of a team, the excitement of achieving a new skill/goal, or overcoming adversity after an injury. Annie said, "Gymnastics has taught me so many things that most people don’t learn until later on in life, which makes me thankful everyday for this opportunity."
As a level 6 gymnast in 2008, Annie finished second in the all-around, first on balance beam and second on vault and floor exercise at the State Championships. She skipped level 7 and started competing level 8 in 2010. She placed eighth in the all-around and third on vault and balance beam at the State Championships.

In 2012, Annie finished third on floor exercise and fifth on vault at the State Championships. At the Region 4 Championships, she placed fourth in the all-around, first on balance beam and second on floor exercise, qualifying to the Level 9 Western Nationals. Annie earned gold medals on balance beam and in the all-around at the Region 4 Championships. At the Western Nationals, Annie placed fifth on floor exercise.
As a first-year level 10 gymnast in 2014, Annie placed eighth in the all-around and second on balance beam at the State Championships. At the Region 4 Championships, she finished third in the all-around, second on balance beam and third on floor exercise. This qualified Annie to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Jackson, MS where she placed seventh on balance beam. In 2015, Annie placed sixth in the all-around and fourth on floor exercise at the Region 4 Championships. She qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Des Moines, IA where she placed ninth on balance beam and floor exercise.

Annie's goals are to continue to improve and be successful as she continue her JO gymnastics career and get the opportunity to compete as a D1 gymnast and experience the student-athlete lifestyle.
