Ashanti Janae Robinson was born on July 11, 2002 in Atlanta, GA to Jeff and Shawn Robinson. Ashanti is an honor student at Mill Creek High School and she will graduate from high school in 2020. During Ashanti's spare time, she enjoys freestyle writing and watching her favorite TV shows.
Ashanti was watching Stick It and asked her mom if she could do gymnastics. Her mom enrolled her into Tumble Tykes class at Georgia Gymnastics Academy and quickly progressed in the sport.
Ashanti placed third in the all-around and second on floor exercise at the 2010 Level 4 State Championships. As a level 6 gymnast in 2012, she earned a bronze medal on balance beam at the State Championships. Ashanti moved up to level 7 for the 2014 season where she placed in the top ten in the all-around and seventh on vault and floor exercise at the State Championships.
As a level 8 gymnast in 2015, Ashanti placed fourth in the all-around and earned gold medals on vault, uneven bars and floor exercise at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships where she finished fourth in the all-around with a 37.300, second on floor exercise and third on vault. Ashanti moved up to level 9 for the 2016 season, finishing second on vault at the State Championships. In 2017, Ashanti finished fourth in the all-around and second on vault at the State Championships. At the Region 7 Championships, she placed third in the all-around and third on uneven bars. She qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals in Lansing, MI where she placed fourth on vault with a 9.600. In 2018, Ashanti competed as an uneven bars specialist all season. She won the title at the Atlanta Crown Invitational, Everest Classic and Pikes Peak Cup. At the State Championships, she placed third on uneven bars.
Ashanti trains 20 hours per week at Georgia Gymnastics Academy in Lawrenceville, GA under coaches Judy Prestigiacomo, Amanda Cain and Annette Kaiser. Ashanti would like to continuing improving her skills and gymnastics abilities, along with obtaining a gymnastics scholarship and competing on a successful collegiate team.
