Ashley Hay was born on June 4, 2003 in Texas to Ron and Adrienne Hay. She has four brothers, Andrew, Austin, Alex and Ario and a sister, Amanda. Currently, Ashley is an honor student at Texas Connections Academy and she will graduate from high school in 2021. During Ashley's spare time, she enjoys swimming, walking on the beach in Port Aransas and reading.

Ashley started gymnastics when she was seven years old. She was always trying to do cartwheels and handstands on the soccer field at her school, so her parents decided to enroll Ashley in gymnastics at the YMCA. She fell in love with the sport and never looked back. Ashley started her competitive gymnastics career at Olympia Hills Gymnastics in Buda, TX where she trained until 2017.

As a level 5 gymnast in 2012, she placed sixth in the all-around with a 38.350 and third on vault and uneven bars at the State Championships. Ashley was named to America's Top 100 on vault and uneven bars. She skipped level 6 and moved up to level 7 for the 2014 season. She scored a 37.900 at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 3 Championships where she placed fifth in the all-around with a 37.700 and third on floor exercise. Ashley competed level 8 for the next two seasons. She qualified to the 2015 Region 3 Championships where she scored a 37.075 in the all-around. In 2016, she placed fifth in the all-around with a 37.875 and fourth on balance beam at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 3 Championships, finishing fifth in the all-around with a 37.800 and third on floor exercise.

Ashley moved up to level 9 for the 2017 season. At the Region 3 Championships, she placed ninth in the all-around with a 37.000, fourth on uneven bars and fifth on floor exercise. She was the alternate for the Level 9 Western Nationals. Following her 2017 season, Ashley left her long-time gym and moved to J&R Gymnastics in New Braunfels, TX. As a first-year level 10 gymnast in 2018, Ashley placed eighth on floor exercise at the State Championships and qualified to the Region 3 Championships. Ashley had a good 2019 season! She placed fourth in the all-around with a 37.275 and second on balance beam at the Region 3 Championships. She qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals.

In 2020, Ashley qualified to the Level 10 State Championships but was unable to compete due to COVID-19 pandemic. In September of 2020, Ashley moved to Mavericks Gymnastics in San Antonio, TX.

Ashley trains 24 hours per week at Mavericks Gymnastics in San Antonio, TX under coaches Steve and Gaby Arkell. Ashley is working hard to qualify to the Junior Olympic Nationals. Her long-term goal is to obtain a college gymnastics scholarship.
