Ashtyn Taylor Winter was born on August 20, 2001 in Topeka, KS to Josh and Amanda Winter. She has a brother, Kaden. Currently, Ashtyn is a senior at Olathe South High School and she will graduate from high school in 2019. Her current cumulative GPA is a 4.0.

Ashtyn's mom enrolled Ashtyn into gymnastics for fun at the age of four. She started her competitive gymnastics career at CATTS Gymnastics and Dance in Wamego, KS where she trained under coaches Angie Curtis and Melissa Brazzle.

As a level 8 gymnast in 2012, Ashtyn finished fourth in the all-around and fifth on balance beam at the State Championships. After her level 8 season, Ashtyn started training at Diamond Academy Gymnastics and Dance in Stilwell, KS.

In 2013 as a level 9 gymnast, Ashtyn placed sixth in the all-around and fourth on floor exercise at the State Championships. Ashtyn finished ninth on vault with a 9.500 at the Region 3 Championships.

Ashtyn moved up to level 10 for the 2014 season. At the State Championships, Ashtyn placed fourth in the all-around, third on balance beam and second on floor exercise, qualifying to the Region 3 Championships. In 2015, Ashtyn did really well at the State Championships where she finished first in the all-around, first on uneven bars and second on vault and balance beam. Ashtyn qualified to the Region 3 Championships, finishing sixth on balance beam and 16th in the all-around. In 2016 as a third-year level 10 gymnast, Ashtyn finished fourth in the all-around and third on vault at the State Championships. She placed ninth on balance beam at the Region 3 Championships. Following her 2016 season, Ashtyn moved to Fuzion Gymnastics in Kearney, MO.

In 2017, Ashtyn finished fourth in the all-around and fourth on balance beam at the State Championships. At the Region 4 Championships, she placed first on uneven bars and fourth on vault.

Ashtyn trains 29 hours per week at Fuzion Gymnastics in Kearney, MO under coaches Jackie Flanery-Heredia and Mike Heredia. She is working hard to reach her long-term goal to obtain a college scholarship to a Division 1 school.
