Ava started gymnastics when she was three years old because she was a very active kid. Her mom loved the sport and was a gymnast and cheerleader growing up in Texas, so she thought gymnastics would be a safe and fun place for Ava to burn off energy. When Ava turned seven years old, she was asked to be on the team and joined right away. Ava has been training at Crenshaw Athletic Club in Austin, TX since level 4.
As a level 7 gymnast in 2017, Ava placed first in the all-around with a 38.325 and first on uneven bars and balance beam at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 3 Championships, finishing fifth in the all-around with a 37.875 and second on uneven bars. She moved up to level 8 for the 2018 season where she placed third in the all-around with a 37.450 and first on vault and uneven bars at the State Championships. At the Region 3 Championships, Ava finished second in the all-around with a 37.725 and third on uneven bars. In 2019 as a level 9 gymnast, Ava qualified to the Level 9 Western Nationals in Spokane, WA after finishing sixth in the all-around and second on vault with a 9.750 at the Region 3 Championships. Her 9.750 vault was named to America's Top 100 in level 9. In 2020, Ava qualified to the Level 10 State Championships but was unable to compete due to COVID-19 pandemic.
