Brooke Smead was born on November 3, 2002 in Georgia to Ron and Vickie Smead. She currently lives in Holly Springs, NC with her mom and two dogs named Bella and Daisy. Brooke is an honor student at Southern Wake Academy and she will graduate from high school in 2021. When Brooke has time outside of gymnastics, she enjoys reading, biking, playing soccer and whiffle ball and crafts.

Brooke's dad passed away in 2009. Her mom was looking for something to add to her life and try to keep her mind off the loss of her father. Brooke started taking gymnastics classes at Sonshine Gymnastics in Holly Springs, NC in 2010 and has been there ever since. As a level 4 gymnast in 2011, Brooke finished fifth in the all-around and first on uneven bars at the State Championships. At the 2012 Level 5 State Championships, she placed first in the all-around and third on vault, uneven bars and balance beam.

Brooke tested out of level 6 and moved up to level 7 for the 2014 season. At the State Championships, she placed sixth in the all-around and fifth on uneven bars. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships where she placed fourth in the all-around with a 37.600 and third on uneven bars. In 2015 as a level 8 gymnast, Brooke placed second in the all-around with a 37.750 and second on vault and balance beam at the State Championships. At the Region 8 Championships, she finished seventh on uneven bars with a 9.500. Brooke moved up to level 9 in 2016 where she placed in the top ten in the all-around and fourth on balance beam at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships, finishing ninth on vault and floor exercise.

As a first-year level 10 gymnast in 2017, Brooke finished in the top ten in the all-around and fifth on vault and floor exercise at the State Championships. At the Region 8 Championships, she placed in the top ten in the all-around and eighth on balance beam. In 2018, Brooke finished eighth in the all-around and fifth on uneven bars at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships, finishing fifth on uneven bars with a 9.450. In 2019, Brooke placed seventh on uneven bars with a 9.475 and 11th overall at the Region 8 Championships. Brooke qualified to the Level 10 State Championships but was unable to compete due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Brooke trains 24 hours per week at Holly Springs, NC under coaches Milan and Heidi Stanovich. Brooke's long-term goal is to obtain a Division I college gymnastics scholarship.
