Callie-Rae McVey was born on August 8, 2002 in California. She currently lives in Wimberley, TX with her mom, Chantal McVey-Elliott and stepdad, Simon Elliott. Callie’s biological dad (Troy McVey) passed away when she was four years old. She has been raised by her stepdad, whom she refers to as her Dad since she was six. Callie-Rae had three brothers, Hunter, Dawson and Thobe and a sister, Madi. Currently, Callie-Rae is homeschooled with a 4.0 GPA and she will graduate from high school in 2021. When she has time outside of gymnastics, she enjoys traveling, swimming, cooking and cake decorating.
Callie-Rae started taking Mommy and Me classes at 18 months old and made pre-team at age four. She joined Flipnastics gymnastics team in Lakeway, TX in 2009 when she was six years old and has been there ever since. Callie-Rae qualified to the Level 7 State Championships in 2014 and 2015. As a level 8 gymnast in 2016, Callie placed eighth in the all-around and seventh on balance beam and floor exercise at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 3 Championships where she finished sixth in the all-around with a 37.050 and third on vault.
In 2017 as a level 9 gymnast, Callie-Rae finished in the top ten in the all-around and fifth on vault at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 3 Championships, finishing seventh on vault with a 9.450. Callie-Rae moved up to level 10 for the 2018 season where she qualified to the Region 3 Championships. She was unable to compete at Regionals due to an injury. Callie Rae only competed in one meet in 2019 due to two minor injuries.
Callie-Rae trains 21-28 hours per week at Austin Elite Gymnastics Training Center in Lakeway, TX under coaches Mike Hillin and Tunde Pèntek-Johnson. Callie-Rae's long-term goal is to obtain a Division I college gymnastics scholarship.
