Camryn Olivia Heister was born on October 2, 1998 in Lancaster, PA to Curtis and Barbara Heister. She has a younger brother, Logan and a cat named Asher. During her spare time, she enjoys shopping, reading, writing, hanging out with her friends and listening to music.
Currently, Camryn is a senior at Lampeter-Strasburg High School, graduating in the spring of 2017. She is taking accelerated classes and she has been on high honor roll every year since sixth grade. Camryn earned 2013 Burrowes Scholar for Family & Consumer Science Award and 2013 Scholastic Silver Key Writing Award for a personal narrative about her level 4 state competition. Camryn finished her freshman year with Distinguished Honor Roll and 4.0 GPA, having taken 5 accelerated classes throughout the school year. She was also involved in her school's Interact Club where she volunteered at various events to help out the community while gaining volunteer hours.
Camryn's mom was a coach at Prestige Gymnastics, so she used to take Camryn to the gym every day. Camryn fell in love with the sport and started taking recreational classes at the age of two and never looked back. She has been training at Prestige Gymnastics her whole gymnastics career.
In 2006, Camryn swept the gold medals at the Level 4 State Championships with all-around score of 38.000. In 2007, she placed first on vault, balance beam, floor exercise and in the all-around with a 38.250 at the Level 5 Eastern Sectionals. At the Level 5 State Championships, she finished second in the all-around and first on balance beam and floor exercise. As a level 6 gymnast in 2008, Carmyn placed second on balance beam and fourth in the all-around.
Camryn moved up to level 7 for the 2009 season. She placed second in the all-around with a 37.975 and first on vault and uneven bars at the Parkettes Invitational. At the Central Sectionals, she finished third in the all-around with a 37.150 as well as second on vault and balance beam. Camryn finished second on vault and eighth in the all-around at the State Championships. She competed for the Pennsylvania State Team at the National Judges Cup where she placed first on vault, fourth on floor exercise and sixth in the all-around.
As a level 8 gymnast in 2010, Camryn placed third in the all-around and second on balance beam at the Black-Eyed Susan Invitational. At the Buckeye Classic, she finished fifth on vault, floor exercise and in the all-around. Camryn placed fourth on floor exercise with a 9.450 at the State Championships.
Camryn moved up to level 9 in 2011. She placed third on balance beam at the Sand Dollar Invitational. At the Parkettes Invitational, she finished first on vault and fifth in the all-around. She placed third in the all-around, second on vault and first on uneven bars at the Katie Baldwin Invitational. She was unable to compete rest of the 2011 season due to an injury. In 2012, Camryn placed sixth on uneven bars at the State Championships. She was the first alternate to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals after finishing seventh in the all-around and third on vault at the Region 7 Championships.
In 2013, Camryn competed on vault, balance beam and floor exercise in most of the meets. She placed second on floor exercise at the Katie Baldwin Invitational and Buckeye Classic. Her season-high scores in 2013 were 9.000 on vault, 9.050 on balance beam and 9.350 on floor exercise.
As a 10 gymnast in 2014, Camryn finished sixth on vault and seventh on floor exercise at the Black-Eyed Susan Invitational. At the Maryland Classic, she placed eighth on floor exercise. Camryn placed first on floor exercise, second on vault and fourth on balance beam at the Katie Baldwin Invitational. At the Excalibur Cup, she finished second on floor exercise. She was unable to compete rest of the season due to an injury.
Currently, Camryn is preparing for the 2017 season as a level 10 gymnast. She trains over 20 hours per week at Prestige Gymnastics in Lancaster, PA under coaches Jen & Tony Fatta, Kevin Pope, Sarah O'Brien and Greg Johnson. She is working hard to reach her goal to obtain a college scholarship.
