Caroline "Carly" Woodard was born on January 5, 1999 in Overland Park, Kansas to Steve and Marnie. She has a sister, Tori and four pets named Sugar, Conner, Diamond and Jewels. During Carly's spare time, she enjoys baking and art.
Currently, Carly is a senior at Blue Valley West High School and she will graduate from high school in 2017. Blue Valley was ranked first in the state of Kansas in 2013. Carly maintains a 4.0 GPA and she is a member of FCLA Community Team.
Carly was a very active child, so her parents decided to enroll her into recreational classes at a local gym in Overland Park, KS and she was hooked! She competed level 5 in 2009, level 6 in 2010 and level 7 in 2011.
As a level 8 gymnast in 2012, Carly grabbed gold medals on balance beam, floor exercise and in the all-around at the Chow's Winter Classic. At the IGI Chicago Style, she finished first on vault, uneven bars, balance beam and in the all-around with a 37.250. Carly placed second in the all-around with a 37.250 and first on balance beam at the Presidential Classic. At the St. Louis Classic, she finished first on uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercise and in the all-around. She did really well at the Pink Ribbon Invitational where she placed fourth in the all-around with a 37.400 and third on uneven bars and balance beam. At the State Championships, Carly finished second in the all-around with a 37.550 and second on uneven bars and balance beam. She qualified to the Region 3 Championships where she placed third in the all-around and second on vault. She concluded her level 8 season at the USAG Open Championships in Florida, finishing 13th in the all-around, sixth on balance beam and fifth on floor exercise.
Carly moved up to level 9 for the 2013 season. She placed first on vault, third on balance beam and second on floor exercise at the Alamo Classic. At the Edgewater Classic, she finished fourth in the all-around and first on vault. She had a solid meet at the Northern Lights Classic where she finished first on floor exercise and in the all-around with a 37.125. Carly earned gold medals on uneven bars, floor exercise and in the all-around at the State Championships. At the Region 3 Championships, Carly placed second in the all-around with a 37.825, fourth on balance beam and third on floor exercise. This qualified Carly to the Level 9 Western Nationals where she placed in the top ten on balance beam and floor exercise.
As a first-year level 10 gymnast in 2014, Carly placed third in the all-around, first on vault and second on balance beam at the State Championships. At the Region 3 Championships, she finished eighth on balance beam. In the fall of 2014, Carly began training at Fuzion Gymnastics in Kearney, MO.
In 2015, Carly placed third on vault at the Meet Me in St. Louis. At the Nadia Comaneci Invitational, she finished fifth on floor exercise. Carly placed third in the all-around and third on uneven bars at the St. Louis Classic. At the State Championships, she won the floor exercise title with a 9.525 and placed fourth on vault. She concluded her 2015 season at the Region 4 Championships with a seventh place finish on floor exercise.
Carly earned silver medals on vault, balance beam, floor exercise and in the all-around at the 2016 State Championships. At the Region 4 Championships, she finished seventh in the all-around and fifth on balance beam. She qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Ft. Worth, TX where she placed seventh on balance beam.
Currently, Carly is preparing for the 2017 season as a level 10 gymnast. She trains 20-30 hours per week at Fuzion Gymnastics in Kearney, MO under coaches Jackie Flanery-Heredia and Mike Heredia. Carly is working hard to become a successful level 10 gymnast as well as to obtain a college scholarship to a Division 1 school.
