At the age of three, Christie got her start in gymnastics when her mom signed her up for a class. Christie had spent much of her three years in and out of hospitals. Her mom thought it would help Christie to be with other children, since she was surrounded by adults and doctors during much of her young life. Christie immediately fell in love with the sport and wanted more. Within the first year, she went from one class per week, to team, competing at level 4. Gymnastics was all Christie wanted to do, during every waking moment. Her parents joke about having seen her feet more than her face, because she was standing on her hands. Christie has been training under coach Tammy Marshall her whole gymnastics career.

As a level 8 gymnast in 2013, Christie finished third in the all-around with a 37.050 and second on uneven bars and floor exercise at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 6 Championships, finishing sixth on uneven bars.

She qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals again, finishing sixth in the all-around with a 37.025, third on floor exercise and sixth on uneven bars.
