At the age of two, Claire followed her older sister into gymnastics at GK Gymnastics and has been there ever since! In 2005 as a level 8 gymnast, Claire placed third in the all-around at the Level 8 State Championships. There, she qualified to the Level 8 Regionals, here she finished 22nd overall and 13th on uneven bars.
In 2006, Claire moved up to level 9 and placed 15th in the all-around and eighth on vault at the Level 9 State Championships. At the Level 9 Regional Championships, she placed 36th in the all-around and 16th on vault. She quickly moved up to level 10 in 2007. At the California Classic, she finished fourth in the all-around as well as second on balance beam and floor exercise. Claire placed sixth in the all-around at the Level 10 State Championships. She concluded her 2007 season at the Level 10 Regional Championships, where she finished 15th overall and sixth on balance beam.
Claire began her 2008 season at the Winterfest, where she won the vault title. At the Hard Rock Invitational, she placed 10th overall and sixth on floor exercise. Claire then placed 12th in the all-around and fourth on vault. At the Level 10 Regional Championships, she finished tenth overall. Soon after Claire's level 10 season, she qualified to hopes pre-elite and competed at the US Challenge, where she finished 12th overall.
In 2009, Claire traveled to Dallas, Texas for the Metroplex Challenge and finished fifth overall. At the California Classic, she placed seventh in the all-around and third on vault. Claire then won the all-around title at the Rocky Invitational. At the Level 10 State Championships, she placed seventh in the all-around and second on vault. At the Level 10 Regional Championships, she placed eighth in the all-around, second on floor exercise and third on balance beam. There, she qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals. Claire concluded her 2009 season at the US Challenge, where she finished eighth overall as well as fourth on floor exercise.
Claire had a great 2010 season! She won the all-around title at the Denver Winterfest. She traveled to Orlando, Florida for the Sand Dollar Invitational, where she finished seventh in the all-around. At the AOGC Invitational in California, she won the all-around title as well as first on floor exercise. Claire then won all-around titles at the Level 10 State Championships and Level 10 Regional Championships. There, she qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals for the second time in Dallas, Texas. In Dallas, she finished impressive 13th in the all-around and eighth on balance beam. After Claire's JO season, she competed at the Bieger's Elite Qualifier in Florida and won the all-around title with a 53.3. This qualified Claire to junior international elite and to the VISA Championships in Hartford, CT. Claire concluded her 2010 season at both US Covergirl Classic and VISA Championships.
In 2011, Claire placed second in the all-around and third on vault, balance beam and floor exercise at the Rocky Invitational. She won the balance beam title at the Pikes Peak Cup. Claire traveled to California for the Gliders National Elite Qualifier wher eshe placed fifth in the all-around and third on uneven bars. At the WOGA National Elite Qualifier in Dallas, Texas, she won the all-around title as well as first on floor exercise and second on uneven bars. This qualified Claire to the American Classic and US Classic in the summer. After the WOGA Elite Qualifier, she competed in the international session where she placed ninth overall. Claire then competed at the American Classic and US Covergirl Classic in July.
Claire started her 2012 season at the Sand Dollar Invitational in Florida. At the Pikes Peak Cup, she finished fourth on vault and fifth on floor exercise. She then traveled to Texas for the WOGA Classic. She competed in the elite qualifier, finishing second on vault, floor exercise and in the all-around. She then finished third on vault, balance beam and in the all-around in the international session. At the Denver Winterfest Classic, Claire earned gold medals on vault, uneven bars and in the all-around. She concluded her season at the Texas National Elite Qualifier in May.
Currently, Claire trains over 30 hours per a week at GK Gymnastics under coaches Gene and Lorraine Koehnke. She is preparing for the upcoming 2013 season. Claire would like to go as far as she can in gymnastics.
Claire Marie Hammen was born on July 14, 1996 in Estes Park, Colorado to John Scott and Karen. She is the youngest of five children; Chase (27), Spencer (24), Brady (22) and Shelby (16). During Claire's spare time, she loves to go golfing with her brother.
