Dana Elizabeth Ho was born on August 12, 1995 in Ottawa, Capital of Canada. She is the youngest of two children to Daniel Ho and Hanna Tong. Currently, Dana is in 11th grade (2011-2012) at Plano East Senior High School in Plano Independent School District.
Dana began gymnastics when she was four years old. Her mom put her into gymnastics because she has high energy, constantly rolls and jumps around the house. She first began recreational gymnastics at a mobile gym called Head Over Heels. After the first week, the coach told Dana's parents to enroll her at a real gym.
At a young age of 6, Dana made a conscious decision to concentrate on gymnastics even though she won 3rd place at Texas YMCA state swim meet. Her passion and love for gymnastics has helped her to progress quickly moving through each level every year. Dana’s competitive gymnastic career started in 2003 when she received Nadia Comaneci Spirit Award for her gymnastic personality as a level 4 gymnast. Soon after that, Dana decided to train at WOGA as a level 5 gymnast, coached by Valeri Liukin and Helen.
In Jan 2004, within a year from her very first competitive meet, Dana completed level 4, 5 and won a level 6 balance beam bronze medal at her first level 6 meet. She progressed very well in level 6, finished second in the all-around and first on balance beam at Texas North State. At the 2005 WOGA Classic, Dana won silver medal on balance beam and first all-around.
Dana only competed in one level 7 meet, Bart Connor IGHOF invitational. She won second on balance beam, third on vault and uneven bars and third all-around.
Dana jumped quickly to level 8 in 2006. She finished first on balance beam at WOGA Classic. At the Universal Invitational and Gymnastics in Paradise, Dana won silver medal on balance beam. She competed at level 8 State and finished fourth on balance beam. 2006 was the year of balance beam!
Dana moved up to level 9 in 2007. At the AOGC Invitational, she finished third in the all-around, second on uneven bars and floor and third on balance beam. At the WOGA Classic, she won a silver medal on uneven bars. She then placed fifth on uneven bars and ninth all-around at level 9 Regional, qualified her for Western National. 2007 was a wonderful year, paid off her hard work on uneven bars and floor exercises.
Dana again progressed very quickly to begin competition as level 10 in 2008. At both the WOGA Classic and Texas Prime meet, she won silver medals on balance beam. At level 10 State, Dana finished second on floor exercise. Then at the Regional Championship, she finished 1st on balance beam, fourth on floor, uneven bars and fourth all-around in the Junior A division, successfully qualified her for the JO National Championships! Dana had a great experience at JO National, placing eleventh on uneven bars. Dana finished 2009 with a first place on floor at the Level 10 Regionals.
In 2010, Dana tied for the first place in the all-around at the Houston National Invitational. She also finished second on uneven bars, third on balance beam and first on floor exercise. At the Level 10 Texas State Championships, Dana placed fifth in the all-around, second on balance beam and fourth on uneven bars. She then finished seventh in the all-around at the Level 10 Regional Championships in a very tough group of competitors. There, she won a silver medal on balance beam and qualified to her second Junior Olympic National Championships in Dallas, Texas. At the JO Nationals, Dana finished seventh in the all-around out of 56 gymnasts. She also placed third on balance beam and sixth on floor exercise.
Dana began her 2011 season at the IGI Chicago Style where she placed fifth on uneven bars. At the WOGA Classic, she placed second on uneven bars and third on vault. Dana placed fourth in the all-around and second on uneven bars at the Houston National Invitational. At the Level 10 State Championships, she won the all-around title as well as first on vault and uneven bars. Dana earned two silver medals on floor exercise and in the all-around. There, she qualified to the JO Nationals in California and placed eighth on balance beam.
Currently, Dana trains about 36 hours per a week at World Olympic Gymnastic Academy (WOGA) under coaches Laurent Landi and Cecile Canqueteau-Landi. Currently, Dana is preparing for upcoming 2012 season as a level 10 gymnast. Dana would like to continue her passion of gymnastics in college.
Besides gymnastics, Dana works hard at school the same way she trains hard at gym. She went back to Plano Independent School District as a high school freshman in 2009 and had a fantastic school year academically as well as making new friends.
