Delaney Marie Garin was born on August 26, 1999 in Bethesda, Maryland to Patrick and Kelsie Garin. She has a brother, Sean, and two Yorkie-Poos named Artie and Hercules. Currently, Delaney is a senior at W.T. Woodson High School in Fairfax, Virginia and she will graduate in the spring of 2017. Delaney is an honor student with a cumulative GPA of 4.07.

At the age of four, her mother enrolled her in gymnastics to allow her to flip and roll in a “safe” environment. She started her gymnastics career at Gymstrada Gymnastics in Virginia Beach, VA. Due to her father’s military career, Delaney had the opportunity to train at River City Gymnastics in Bartlett, TN for two years and Coach Patty’s School of Gymnastics in Camarillo, CA for another two years. Upon her return to the east coast, Delaney joined Capital Gymnastics National Training Center in Burke, VA where she has trained for the past three years.

As a level 4 gymnast in 2006, Delaney finished first on vault and second in the all-around at the State Championships. She placed third in the all-around and first on balance beam and floor exercise at the 2007 level 5 VA State Championships. Delaney moved up to level 7 for the 2008 season where she placed in the top ten at the TN State Championships.

In 2009 as a level 8 gymnast, Delaney swept the gold medals at the TN State Championships. Delaney continued competing level 8 for the 2010 season in California. She finished in the top ten at the CA State Championships and competed at the Region 1 Championships. In the fall, Delaney competed at the California State Games, finishing second on uneven bars, third on floor exercise and fifth in the all-around.

Delaney moved up to level 9 for the 2011 season. She finished fourth in the all-around and first on uneven bars at the CA State Championships. She qualified to the Region 1 Championships. In 2012, Delaney placed first on uneven bars, balance beam and all-around with a 37.225 at the VA State Championships. At the Region 7 Championships, she placed ninth on uneven bars.

As a first-year level 10 gymnast in 2013, Delaney placed first on balance beam and second on uneven bars and in the all-around at the VA State Championships. Delaney finished 12th overall at the Region 7 Championships. She qualified to the Junior Olympic National Invitational Tournament where she placed sixth on uneven bars and seventh on balance beam. In 2014, Delaney placed first in the all-around with a 37.225, first on uneven bars and second on balance beam at the VA State Championships. At the Region 7 Championships, she tied for eighth place in the all-around with a 37.100 and seventh on balance beam. Delaney was named the first alternate for the Junior Olympic Nationals. She concluded her season at the Junior Olympic NIT in Jackson, MS.

In 2015, Delaney placed first on uneven bars, floor exercise and in the all-around at the VA State Championships. She concluded her season at the Region 7 Championships, finishing second on balance beam and eighth on floor exercise. Delaney had a great season in 2016 where she placed first in the all-around with a 38.125, first on uneven bars and second on balance beam at the VA State Championships. At the Region 7 Championships, she placed fourth in the all-around with a 37.925 and third on balance beam. Delaney qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Ft. Worth, TX where she placed ninth in the all-around with a 37.800 out of 56 gymnasts. She also finished sixth on balance beam and ninth on uneven bars.

Currently, Delaney is preparing for the 2017 season as a level 10 gymnast. She trains 25 hours per week at Capital Gymnastics National Training Center in Burke, VA under coaches Tatiana Perskaia, Donny Yarros and Marina Gerisamova. Delaney verbally committed to Temple University for the 2017-2018 school year.
