Ellee Ward was born on September 22, 2003 in Maryland to Nel Checkley and E. Ward. She has an older sister, Ciara who is also a gymnast. Ellee is an honor student at Elizabeth Ann Seton High School and she will graduate from high school in 2021. When Ellee has time outside of gymnastics, you will always find Ellee in the kitchen! She loves to cook and bake fine desserts for her family and friends. Ellee is avid speed reader and loves reading books to help shorting her commute and fill her time to gym. She also volunteeres for the local homeless shelter called Project Echo.

Ellee followed her older sister into gymnastics when she was six years old. She started her competitive gymnastics career at Chesapeake Gymnastics in Owings, MD and quickly progressed in the sport. In the summer of 2014, Ellee moved to Unique Sports Academy in Waldorf, MD.

As a level 7 gymnast in 2016, Ellee placed eighth in the all-around and second on vault at the State Championships. She moved up to level 8 for the 2017 season where she finished fourth on uneven bars at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 7 Championships and placed in the top ten on uneven bars. She moved up to level 9 for the 2018 season but an injury kept her from competing and training 100%. She did qualify to the Level 9 State Championships. Ellee tore labrum and had surgery on shoulder, so she sat out the entire 2019 season. She started to come back for the 2020 season but her season was cut short due to COVID-19 pandemic. In the summer of 2020, Ellee moved to Docksiders Gymnastics in Millersville, MD.

Ellee trains 20-23 hours per week at Docksiders Gymnastics in Millersville, MD under coaches Bob Ouellette, Kathy Pitkevits and Jay Barrows. Ellee's long-term goal is to compete for a college gymnastics team.
