Emerson Rose Hurst was born on August 27, 2000 in Oryel, Russia. She currently lives in Jacksonville, FL with her mom, Diane Hurst, two dogs and a cat, TigerLilly. Emerson is a senior at St. Johns Virtual School and she will graduate in 2018. During her spare time, she enjoys doodling, shopping, swimming and watching Netflix.

Emerson was very active and needed an outlet, so her mom enrolled her into gymnastics for fun when she was four years old. She has been training at Starlight Gymnastics her whole gymnastics career. Emerson placed second in the all-around and won vault and floor exercise at the 2009 Level 5 State Championships. She skipped level 6 and quickly moved up to level 7 for the 2011 season. She placed in the top eight in the all-around at the State Championships and qualified to the Region 8 Championships where she placed fifth in the all-around and third on floor exercise.

Emerson competed level 8 for three seasons, 2012-2014. She placed fourth in the all-around and third on uneven bars at the 2012 State Championships. At the 2012 Region 8 Championships, she finished third in the all-around, third on uneven bars and fourth on balance beam. In 2013, Emerson grabbed gold medals on vault, floor exercise and in the all-around with a 37.775 at the State Championships and was named to the Level 8 Florida Team for Regionals. At the Region 8 Championships, she placed eighth in the all-around with a 38.100, second on floor exercise and fifth on vault. In 2014, her last level 8 season, Emerson finished first in the all-around with a 38.100, first on vault and second on balance beam and floor exercise at the State Championships. She represented Level 8 Florida Team at the Region 8 Championships and placed second in the all-around with a 37.525, first on vault and uneven bars and second on floor exercise.

In 2015 as a level 9 gymnast, Emerson finished first in the all-around with a 37.500, first on balance beam and second on vault at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships where she finished 11th in the all-around and fifth on balance beam.

Emerson moved up to level 10 for the 2016 season. She finished second in the all-around with a 37.000, first on floor exercise and second on balance beam at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships. Emerson's season-high scores were a 9.200 on vault, 9.400 on uneven bars, 9.450 on balance beam, 9.500 on floor exercise and 37.300 in the all-around. In 2017, Emerson finished first in the all-around with a 37.225 and first on balance beam at the State Championships. At the Region 8 Championships, she placed their din the all-around and first on balance beam. Emerson qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Indianapolis, IN where she placed 14th on balance beam and 23rd overall out of 56 gymnasts.

Currently, Emerson is preparing for the 2018 season as a level 10 gymnast. She trains 26 hours per week at Starlight Gymnastics in Jacksonville, FL under coaches Vessy Ivanov, Cheri Gillikin and Mila Marinova Hardy. She also takes ballet classes 1.5 hours per week. Emerson is working hard to reach her goals to become a successful level 10 gymnast, qualify to the Junior Olympic Nationals and to compete for a college gymnastics team.
