Emily was a very energetic child, so her parents decided to enroll her into gymnastics so she could have a safe place to burn off energy. She began taking recreational gymnastics classes at the age of six at Everest Gymnastics in Huntersville, NC and has been there ever since.

Two years later, Emily started competing level 4 at the age of eight. She finished third in the all-around with a 37.175, second on uneven bars and third on balance beam at the State Championships. She moved up to level 5 for the 2011 season where she placed second in the all-around with a 37.425, first on vault and floor exercise, second on balance beam and third on uneven bars. As a level 6 gymnast in 2012, Emily finished fifth in the all-around with a 37.000, first on uneven bars and fourth on vault at the State Championships.

Emily started competing level 7 in 2014. She finished third in the all-around with a 38.450 and second on vault and balance beam at the Region 8 Championships. She moved up to level 8 for the 2015 season where she finished fourth in the all-around with a 37.475, third on balance beam and fourth on floor exercise at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships, finishing third in the all-around with a 37.325, first on uneven bars, second on vault and fourth on floor exercise.

As a level 9 gymnast in 2016, Emily placed third in the all-around and first on vault and floor exercise at the State Championships. She did really well at the Region 8 Championships where she finished fifth in the all-around with a 37.125, fourth on balance beam and fifth on vault. She qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals in Virginia Beach, VA and placed in the top ten in the all-around with a 37.100. She also placed third on balance beam and sixth on vault and floor exercise.

Currently, Emily is preparing for the 2017 season as a level 10 gymnast. She trains 25 hours per week at Everest Gymnastics in Huntersville, NC under coaches Qi Han, Yiwen Chen and Nikolia Cherchen. She is working hard to become a successful level 10 gymnast, qualify to the Junior Olympic Nationals and to obtain a Division I college gymnastics scholarship.
