At the age of five, Emma moved from Victoria, Canada to Seattle, where she started gymnastics on a pre-team. At the age of seven, Emma's family was transferred to Dallas, Texas and Emma began training at World Olympic Gymnastics Academy (WOGA) under coach Yevgeniy Indyukov.
In 2004, Emma competed as a level five gymnast. She placed first on vault, balance beam and in the all-around at the Rising Stars Invitational. At the Judges Cup, she won balance beam, floor exercise and the all-around. Emma won uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercise and the all-around at the Dallas Cup. At the North L5 State Championships, she won the floor exercise title. Emma ended her season at the L5 State Championships, placing second on uneven bars and floor exercise.
Emma competed level six in the spring season in 2005. She won the vault title at the WOGA Classic. She finished fourth on balance beam and fifth in the all-around at the Excalibur Cup. In 2006, Emma competed one meet of level 7 in Hawaii in January, where she finished first in the all-around, first on balance beam and vault. She then competed as a level 8 gymnast at the WOGA Classic and finished 10th overall. She had a strong performance at the L8 State Championships, finishing eighth on floor exercise. She continued competing level eight in the beginning of the 2007 season. She finished second on bars at the WOGA Classic.
After first two competitions in 2007, Emma moved up to level 9 for rest of the year. At the Riverwalk Invitational, she placed fifth in the all-around and third on vault and floor exercise. She then finished second on vault at the Rose City Classic. At the L9 State Championships and L9 Regional Championships, she finished 15th overall at both meets. After Emma's 2007 season ended, she followed her long-time coach, Yevgeniy Indyukov to Plano Unlimited (re-named to Golden Grip Gymnastics in 2009).
In 2008, Emma finished fifth on uneven bars at the L10 State Championships. At the Regional Championships, she placed fourth on vault. Emma trained at Eagle's Wings Athletics with Tatiana Schegolkova most of 2009 season, where Emma continued competing as a level 10 gymnast. She finished second in the all-around at the Texas Prime Meet and third in the all-around at the Metroplex Challenge. She won the vault title at the California Classic and Rose City Classic. At the L10 State Championships, she finished seventh in the all-around and second on vault. Emma then placed second on vault and 18th overall at the L10 Regional Championships. Following the 2009 season, she returned to Plano Unlimited which was re-named Golden Grip Gymnastics after Yevgeniy Indyukov bought the gym.
Emma started her 2010 season at the Metroplex Challenge, where she only did three events. At the Rose City Classic, she placed fifth overall and second on vault. She then placed seventh in the all-around at the L10 State Championships. At the L10 Regional Championships, she placed impressive fourth in the all-around and first on vault and floor exercise. There, she qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals, where she won the vault title. A month later, Emma qualified to the VISA Championships at the Bieger's National Elite Qualifier. She competed at both the Covergirl Classic in Chicago, IL and Visa Championships in Hartford, CT.
In December of 2010, Emma traveled to Gatineau, QC for the Elite Canada where she placed eighth in the all-around, third on vault and fifth on floor exercise. She qualified to floor finals where she placed sixth. In February, she was named to the British Columbia gymnastics team where she helped the team to win the team silver medal at the Canada Winter games in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Individually, she won a bronze medal on vault. In March, Emma placed fourth on vault at the Houston National Invitational. Emma was injured prior to the Canada Championships in May but decided to compete and finished 21st in the all-around and second on vault.
Currently, Emma is training at Zenith Elite Gymnastics under coaches Tatiana Schegolkova and Alex Atamas. Emma's long-term goal is to receive a full ride scholarship to a Division I school.
Emma Kate Sibson was born on June 26, 1995 in Victoria, BC Canada to Byron and Cheryl Sibson. She has a younger sister, Abby, a dog (Yorkie), Bella and a parrot (Senegal), Moglie. Currently, Emma is a junior at Spring Creek Academy and is a member of the National Honor Society. Emma would like to major in pre-med in college and then continue on to Med school. She will graduate from high school in 2013.
