Hannah Nicole Deutsch was born on November 17, 1988. She has one brother named Jonathan. Her gymnastics talent could be seen at the age of three because she says, "I flipped out of my crib when I was almost 3." Hannah has been in gymnastics classes since she was five years old. She was in the gym about 28 hours a week. She trains at the well known World Olympic Gymnastics Academy, or WOGA, as it has better known as. Evgeny Marchenko and Natasha Boyarskaya coached Hannah. Now, Hannah is at Illinois State University during her first year.
In 2002, Hannah qualified and competed at the Level 10 Junior Olympic Nationals. Following major abdominal surgery in the summer and two months out of the gym, Hannah was ready for the 2003 season. She placed second at the WOGA Classic and sixth at the Parkette Invitational. She took fourth at the Texas State Championships but an ankle injury prevented her from competing at Regionals and returning to JO Nationals.
During the summer time, Hannah trained hard and was select to represent the United States at the 10th Pan American Maccabi Games in Santiago, Chile in December. Hannah helped Team USA to win the gold medal. The first day of competition, the United States team won the gold medal and Hannah placed 1st all-around. She also qualified to uneven bars, balance beam and vault finals. Next day, Hannah won bars, took silver on beam and bronze on vault.
Hannah did an outstanding job during Level 10
seasons in 2004 and 2005. She finished in the top 10 in the all around at JO
Nationals both years, placing in both floor and beam (Orlando, FL; Ontario, CA).
Hannah did not compete that much during 2006 year due of an injury. She placed sixth in the all-around at the Level 10 Regionals. During 2007 season, Hannah started at the WOGA Classic where she finished eighth in the all-around and first on balance beam. She then competed at Lights, Camera, and Action in Los Angeles, California. She placed seventh in the all-around and earned a gold medal on balance beam. Hannah won gold medal on beam at Texas State Championships and Level 10 Regionals. At the Junior Olympic Nationals, she finished sixteenth in the all-around and took home a bronze medal on beam.
As a freshman at Illinois State in 2008, Hannah saw action on all four events. She won beam against Central Michigan, Rhode Island, and Alaska. She won floor against SEMO, Rhode Island and Alaska. She also achieved victories on vault and in the all-around against Alaska. Hannah continued to have success as a sophomore in 2009. She won floor against SEMO and at the MIC Conference Championships! She won beam against SEMO and Wisconsin- La Crosse. During the summer, Hannah competed at the Maccabiah Games where she helped the United States place second. Individually, she won a silver medal on beam and a bronze medal on floor.
