Irene was always flipping around the house, so her parents decided to enroll her into gymnastics for fun when she was five years old. She fell in love with the sport and never looked back. Irene has been training at Elite Gymnastics Academy in Doral, FL since the summer of 2013.
As a level 8 gymnast in 2014, Irene finished second in the all-around with a 37.475, first on vault and second on uneven bars at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships where she placed first in the all-around with a 37.400. She also finished first on vault and fourth on uneven bars. Irene moved up to level 9 for the 2015 season. She placed first in the all-around with a 37.350 and first on vault and uneven bars at the State Championships. At the Region 8 Championships, Irene finished third in the all-around with a 37.375, second on uneven bars and fourth on vault at the Region 8 Championships. She qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals in Kissimmee, FL where she placed ninth in the all-around with a 37.100, second on uneven bars and fourth on vault.
In 2016, Irene competed as a level 10 gymnast. She placed seventh in the all-around, third on vault and fifth on uneven bars at the State Championships. At the Region 8 Championships, she finished 13th in the all-around and ninth on uneven bars. Irene was unable to compete in 2017 due to an injury. Irene had a surgery on her foot in October 2017 and it kept her from competing in the 2018 season.
Irene trains 22 hours per week at Elite Gymnastics Academy in Doral, FL under coach Andreina Angulo. Irene is working hard to become a successful level 10 gymnast as well as to obtain a Division I college gymnastics scholarship.
