Kate Cooper Mendes de Oliveira was born on December 3, 2004 in Plantation, FL to Miguel and Susan-Jane. She is the youngest of three children where she has an older sister, Meghan and a brother, Joshua. Currently, Kate is an honor student at US Performance Academy and she will graduate from high school in 2023. When Kate has time outside of gymnastics, she enjoys snowboarding and hiking.

Kate's parents enrolled her into Mommy and Me classes when she was two years old at Star Gymnastics in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Kate fell in love with the sport and joined level 3 team at West Broward Gymnastics Academy in Davie, FL. As a level 7 gymnast in 2015, Kate placed third in the all-around and third on uneven bars at the State Championships. She moved up to level 8 for the 2016 season but was unable to compete at the State Championships due to broken arm. In the summer of 2016, Kate moved to Elite Gymnastics Academy in Doral, FL.

Kate had a great season in 2017 as a second-year level 8 gymnast. At the State Championships, she won the all-around title with a 38.300 and placed first on vault, second on balance beam and floor exercise and third on uneven bars. She made the Florida State team for the Region 8 Championships. At Regionals, Kate finished second in the all-around with a 38.350, third on floor exercise and fourth on uneven bars and balance beam.

In 2018 as a level 9 gymnast, Kate finished second in the all-around with a 37.525, second on vault and third on uneven bars and floor exercise at the State Championships. At the Region 8 Championships, she placed fourth in the all-around with a 37.550 and first on vault with a 9.600. She qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals in Rochester, NY where she finished fifth in the all-around with a 37.125 and fifth on vault.

Kate moved up to level 10 for the 2019 season. She placed second on balance beam and fourth on vault at the State Championships. Kate was in a bad car accident in October 2019 and it caused her to miss most of the 2020 season. In 2021, Kate placed seventh on floor exercise with a 9.375 at the Level 10 State Championships, qualifying to Region 8 Championships. In 2022, Kate placed third in the all-around and fourth on uneven bars at the State Championships, qualifying to Regionals.

Kate trains 28 hours per week at Elite Gymnastics Academy in Doral, FL under coach Andrena Angula. Kate is working hard to qualify to the Junior Olympic Nationals. Her long-term goals are to become an elite gymnast as well as to obtain a Division I college gymnastics scholarship.
