Kathryn Elise Coker was born on August 28, 2003 in Ruijin, Jiangxi, China. She was adopted on November 8, 2004, by David and Kim Coker. Her brothers, Thomas and Nicholas Coker also travelled to China to bring her home. She now lives in Spring Branch, TX with her family and a Golden-doodle named Bella. Kathryn is homeschooled and she will graduate from high school in 2021.

In August of 2010, Kathryn started a recreational gymnastics class at VIP Gymnastics in Spring Branch, TX to give her something fun to do after school; that was when she fell in love with gymnastics. In July 2011, the coach asked her to be on the level 2 team. She competed level 2 in the fall of 2011 and then level 3 in the spring of 2012. The fall of 2012, she competed as a level 4 gymnast where she earned gold medals in the all-around and on balance beam at the Level 4 South Texas State Championship.

Kathryn competed level 5 in the spring of 2013. She finished first in the all-around and first on floor exercise at the Metroplex Challenge. At the Heart of Texas Meet, she swept the gold medals. She tested out of the compulsory level 6. In 2014, Kathryn competed as an optional level 6 gymnast. She placed first on vault and in the all-around at the Houston National Invitational. At the Metroplex Challenge, Kathryn finished second in the all-around and first on vault and balance beam. She placed first on vault, uneven bars, balance beam and in the all-around at the Purple Gold Invitational.

In 2015, Kathryn moved up to level 7 where she placed 16th in the all-around with a 37.650 and fourth on floor exercise with a 9.650 at the State Championships. At the Region 3 Championships, she finished sixth in the all-around with a 37.475, fourth on vault and seventh on balance beam. As a level 8 gymnast in 2016, Kathryn placed 11th in the all-around, seventh on balance beam and eighth on uneven bars at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 3 Championships where she placed 12th overall and seventh on uneven bars with a 9.500. Kathryn moved up to level 9 for the 2017 season. She placed sixth in the all-around with a 36.975 and third on balance beam at the State Championships, qualifying to Regionals. In September 2017, Kathryn moved to Mavericks Gymnastics in San Antonio, TX.

Kathryn continued competing level 9 for the 2018 season. She did well at the Region 3 Championships where she placed fifth in the all-around with a 37.475, fourth on uneven bars and fifth on balance beam. She qualified to the Level 9 Western Nationals in Salt Lake City, UT where she placed 14th overall with a 37.025 and sixth on uneven bars. Kathryn moved up to level 10 for the 2019 season. She placed second in the all-around at the Gymnix International in Canada. She was unable to compete at the State Championships due to an injury.

Kathryn trains 21.5 hours per week at Mavericks Gymnastics in San Antonio, TX under coach Steve Arkell. Her long-term goal is to obtain a college gymnastics scholarship.
