Kathryn Lynn Carlisle was born on April 21, 1996 in Columbus, Ohio to Jim and Debbie. She has an older brother, Andrew and a younger sister, Abby. Currently, she is in tenth grade at Ohio Virtual Academy. She will graduate from high school in 2014.

At the age of seven, Katie took a tumbling class at her dance studio and she loved it so she decided to start gymnastics. She has been training at Buckeye Gymnastics most of her gymnastics career.

In 2005, Katie competed as a level 5 gymnast. She finished second on uneven bars and first on balance beam, floor exercise and in the all-around at the Buckeye Classic. She won all events at the Level 5 State Championships. In 2006, she quickly moved up to level 8. She finished 14th in the all-around and sixth on uneven bars at the Level 8 Regionals out of 48 gymnasts. She also began competing as a hopes pre-elite gymnast where she competed at the US Challenge. In the fall, she made the National TOPs Team.

Katie moved up to level 9 in 2007. She finished second in the all-around as well as third on balance beam, second on uneven bars and first on floor exercise at the Buckeye Classic. At the For Love or Money meet, she placed second on balance beam and third in the all-around. Katie finished in the top ten at the Level 9 State Championships. At the Level 8 Regionals, she finished fifth on vault out of 41 athletes. She continued competing in hopes and competed at both American Challenge and US Challenge. She made the National TOPs Team for the second time in the fall.

She missed the 2008 season due to an injury and returned strongly for the 2009 season. At the CGA Coaches Spectacular, she finished second on uneven bars and fourth in the all-around. She placed first on floor exercise and in the all-around at the Buckeye Classic. At the Level 9 State Championships, she placed second in the all-around and second on balance beam. Katie finished first on floor exercise and second on balance beam, vault, and in the all-around at the Level 9 Regionals. There, she qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals where she finished second in the all-around as well as second on uneven bars and first on balance beam. In June, Katie easily qualified to junior pre-elite at the Parkette Elite Qualifier and competed at the US Challenge.

Katie had a strong 2010 season as a level 10 gymnast. She finished third on uneven bars at the Buckeye Classic. She won uneven bars and placed second in the all-around at the Arnold Gymnastics Challenge. At the Level 10 Regionals, she finished fourth on uneven bars and in the all-around. She qualified for the Junior Olympic Nationals where she placed 10th on uneven bars and 14th on vault. After her 2010 season, she moved to Perfection Gymnastics School.

In 2011, Katie began her level 10 season at the Twistars Invitational where she won the all-around title as well as second on uneven bars. She placed first in the all-around at both Circle of Stars and Athlete Warrior Challenge. At the IGI Chicago Style, Katie placed first on vault and uneven bars and second in the all-around. At the Queen City Classic, she earned gold medals on balance beam, floor exercise and in the all-around. Katie placed second in the all-around and first on uneven bars at The Courtney Kupets "Pink" Invitational. At the Level 10 State Championships, she earned two gold medals on floor exercise and in the all-around as well as silver medals on vault, uneven bars and balance beam. She then placed third in the all-around, second on uneven bars and first on balance beam at the Level 10 Regionals. There, she qualified to the JO Nationals in Long Beach, California for the second time. At the JO Nationals, she placed 17th in the all-around and third on uneven bars. Katie returned back to Buckeye Gymnastics after the 2011 season.

Katie was injured most of the 2012 season but recovered in time for the Ohio State Championships. She won gold medals on uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercise and in the all-around with a 38.050. At the Level 10 Regionals, she placed tenth in the all-around and first on uneven bars. She concluded her season at the Junior Olympic NIT, finishing sixth in the all-around and fourth on balance beam.

Currently, Katie trains about 26 hours per week at Buckeye Gymnastics under coaches Kittia Carpenter and LiLi. She is preparing for the upcoming 2013 season as a level 10 gymnast. She would like to get a college scholarship to a Division 1 school.
