Kayla is not the only Hoffman with gymnastics talent; so is her younger sister, Emma. Emma Lee Hoffman was born on August 11, 1993 in Summit, New Jersey. She started gymnastics at age of three.

Emma competed as a level 8 in 2004. At Parkette Invitational, Emma placed 4th all-around, 1st on uneven bars, and 3rd on floor exercise. Emma once again placed 4th all-around at Sand Dollar Invitational.

In beginning of 2005, Emma started competing as a Level 9. At the Maryland classic, she placed 9th all-around and won a silver medal on balance beam. Emma decided to try for elite at Parkette Invitational. She placed 2nd all-around in Child division. When the Level 9 State's was came up, Emma went back to competing as a Level 9 and qualified to the Regionals after placing 11th all-around. At Level 9 Regionals, she placed 12th all-around and qualified to Level 9 Eastern Nationals.

Emma competed as a level 10 in 2007. She finished 5th in the all-around and 2nd on vault at the WOGA Classic. Emma ended her season at Level 10 States with an eighth place finish. In 2008, she finished third in the all-around at the Level 10 State. At the Scarlet Knight Challenge, she finished 4th in the all-around. She won a bronze medal on bars. At States, she qualified for Regionals. Emma had a great 2009 season. In late 2008, she won the all-around at the Rutgers Classic and finished third all-around at the Christmas City Classic. She won the all-around at the NJ State Championships. She also won vault and floor. At Regionals, she won floor and the all-around. This qualified her for her first JO Nationals.
