Kayla's parents enrolled her into gymnastics at a local gym for fun at the age of six. She has been training under coach Tammy Marshall Panten since she was level 5. Kayla competed level 5 in 2012 and level 6 in 2013. As a level 7 gymnast in 2014, she placed second in the all-around and third on uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise.

In 2015 as a level 8 gymnast, Kayla finished third in the all-around with a 37.225, second on floor exercise and third on balance beam at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 6 Championships where she finished third in the all-around with a 37.675 and third on vault and balance beam. Kayla moved up to level 9 for the 2016 season. She placed first in the all-around with a 37.150, first on uneven bars and second on vault and balance beam. At the Region 6 Championships, Kayla finished first in the all-around and second on uneven bars and balance beam. She qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals in Virginia Beach, VA where she placed 15th in the all-around and ninth on uneven bars. Kayla was in America's Top 100 for level 9 uneven bars score with a 9.725.

As a first-year level 10 gymnast in 2017, Kayla finished fifth in the all-around, third on balance beam and fourth on vault. She qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Indianapolis, IN. In 2018, Kayla placed fifth on balance beam at the State Championships. She was an alternate for the JO Nationals after finishing ninth in the all-around and fifth on balance beam at the Region 6 Championships. In 2019, Kayla placed fifth in the all-around with a 37.600 and second on balance beam at the Region 6 Championships and qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals.

Kayla trains 22-27 hours per week at Infiniti Elite Gymnastics in Syosset, NY under coach Tammy Marshall. Kayla will join Temple University gymnastics team during the 2020-2021 school year.
