They visited Houston Gymnastics Academy (HGA) to try out for the recreational group to see which group she would be a part of. After tryouts, one of the coaches approached Kiera's mom and said that Kiera was too advanced for recreational gymnastics and they wanted her to be part of the women’s team. Kiera accepted the invite and started as a level 3 gymnast for her first year of gymnastics at HGA. She then changed gyms to World Champion Center in Spring, TX to compete as a level 6 gymnast under coaches Terry and Tamara Walker. She placed fourth in the all-around with a 38.250 and first on uneven bars with a 9.650 at the 2016 Level 6 State Championships.
