Kierstin Rouse was born on April 9, 2000 in Arizona. She has a younger sister, Kaitlin who is a competitive dancer at Adage Dance Studio in Scottsdale, AZ. Currently, Kierstin is a senior at Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, AZ and she will graduate from high school in 2018. She is a service learning student. In addition to gymnastics, Kierstin has a passion for dance. She attends classes in her free time from the gym.
Kierstin began gymnastics at the age of two and quickly progressed in the sport. She started her competitive gymnastics career at Arizona Sunrays Gymnastics in Phoenix, AZ. Kierstin was the 2008 Level 4 State Champion, 2008 Arizona Gymnast of the Year and 2009 Level 5 State Champion. She was named to the National TOPs Diamond Team in 2008 and National TOPs "A" Team 2009.
After Kierstin's level 6 season, she started training at Desert Lights Gymnastics in Chandler, AZ. As a level 7 gymnast in 2010, she finished second in the all-around and first on balance beam and floor exercise at the State Championships. Kierstin concluded her season at the National Judges Cup, finishing third in the all-around and third on uneven bars and floor exercise. Kierstin was named Arizona Gymnast of the Year and National TOPs "B" Team.
Kierstin moved up to level 8 for the 2011 season. Kierstin finished second on floor exercise and in the all-around at the State Championships, qualifying to the Region 1 Championships. In 2012 as a level 9 gymnast, she finished second in the all-around, first on uneven bars and second on vault and floor exercise at the State Championships. In the summer of 2013, Kierstin moved to Desert Devils Gymnastics in Mesa, AZ.
As a first-year level 10 gymnast in 2013, Kierstin placed fifth on balance beam and floor exercise at the State Championships. At the Region 1 Championships, Kierstin finished seventh on balance beam with a 9.325. Kierstin was unable to compete in 2014 and 2015 seasons due to injuries. She qualified to the State Championships in 2016. She moved to Gold Medal Gymnastics in the spring of 2016.
Currently. Kierstin is preparing for the 2017 season as a level 10 gymnast. Kierstin trains 30 hours per week at Gold Medal Gymnastics Tempe, AZ under coaches Amanda Borden Cochran and Kristin Fanning. She would like to qualify to the Junior Olympic Nationals as well as to obtain a college scholarship.
