Kristen Danielle Kuhn was born on June 12, 2002 in Redwood City, CA to Philip and Jennifer Kuhn. She has an older sister, Holly and two dogs named Lizzie and Hunter. Currently, Kristen is an honor student at Castilleja School, a rigorous all girls private school in the heart of Silicon Valley. She will graduate from high school in 2020.

Gymnastics Career

Kristen had an abundance of energy as a toddler, and her parents were anxious to put that energy to good use. Kristen’s older sister was enrolled in gymnastics classes and Kristen could not wait to be enrolled in a class of her own. Kristen started recreational gymnastics in 2003 at the age of one and started competing at level 5 in 2011. She started her competitive gymnastics career at Peninsula Gymnastics.

As a level 6 gymnast in 2012, Kristen finished third in the all-around and first on uneven bars at the State Championships. She moved up to level 7 for the 2013 season where she placed third in the all-around, second on vault and third on floor exercise at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 1 Championships, finishing sixth in the all-around with a 37.975, second on floor exercise and fourth on balance beam.

In 2014, Kristen placed ninth in the all-around and fourth on floor exercise at the Level 8 State Championships. At the Region 1 Championships, she finished 12th in the all-around and fifth on balance beam. Kristen moved up to level 9 for the 2015 season where she finished fourth on floor exercise and fifth on balance beam at the State Championships. At the Region 1 Championships, she placed fifth in the all-around and fourth on floor exercise. She qualified to the Level 9 Western Nationals in Spokane, WA where she won the floor exercise title with a 9.650.

In September 2015, Kristen moved to Accel Gymnastics in Burlingame, CA. Kristen was unable to compete in 2016 due to broken toe. In 2017 as a level 10 gymnast, Kristen finished fourth on balance beam with a 9.475 at the State Championships. A the Region 1 Championships, she placed seventh in the all-around and sixth on uneven bars and balance beam. Kristen qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Indianapolis, IN.

Equestrian Vaulting Career

Kristen is also an elite level equestrian vaulter, competing for Woodside Vaulters in Woodside, CA. Highlights of her vaulting accomplishments include:

2015, Second Place in the Gold (highest) Individual Division at the USEF/AVA National Championship in Loveland, CO.

2014, Member of the United States Team competing at the World Equestrian Games in France, and at the CVIO in Aachen, Germany. The US Squad finished in 7th place at the World Equestrian Games and captured 3rd place the Nations Cup at Aachen.

2014 National Champion in the Silver (second highest) Individual Division at the USEF/AVA National Championship in Eugene, OR.

2014, Member of the Woodside Vaulters A Team, National Champion in the A Team (highest) division at the USEF/AVA National Championship in Eugene, OR.

2013 National Champion in the Bronze (third highest) Individual Division at the USEF/AVA National Championship in Denver, CO.

2012, Member of the Woodside Vaulters C Team, National Champion in the C Team (third highest) division at the USEF/AVA National Championship in Lexington, KY.
