At the age of six, Kristyn's parents saw a flyer and decided to enroll her into a gymnastics class. She started her competitive career at California Gold Gymnastics with Bernie Weston. She competed for California Gold until 2006.
Kristyn began competing level five in 2005. She finished second on every event and the all-around at the 1st Prelim. At the NAWGJ Judges Cup, she finished third on every event and the all-around. At the South Sectional Meet, she finished second on uneven bars, balance beam, and the all-around. At the Level 5 State Championships, she finished fifth in the all-around and third on balance beam.
She moved up to level six in 2006. At the 1st Prelim, she finished second on balance beam as well as third on vault, floor exercise and the all-around. She won vault, uneven bars, floor exercise and the all-around at the Butterfly Classic. At Sectionals, she finished first on uneven bars and second on vault, balance beam and the all-around. She did not have her best meet at the Level 6 State Championships. Despite this, she placed in the top ten on vault. After the 2006 season, Kristyn moved to SCEGA.
Kristyn repeated level six with her new gym in 2007. At the Hang Ten Invitational, she won balance beam and the all-around. She placed second on the other events. She then won vault, uneven bars and the all-around at the 1st Prelim. At the Second Prelim, she won vault, uneven bars, balance beam and the all-around. Kristyn won vault and bars and second in the all-around at the PGA Invitational. At the Sectionals, she won vault, floor exercise and the all-around. Her last meet of the season was the Level 6 State championships, where she won vault and placed third all-around. She also made the National TOPs Team in the fall.
A few months later, she began competing as a level seven. She won balance beam and floor exercise at the Crystal Cup. At the Surf City Classic, she won vault, uneven bars, balance beam and the all-around with a 38.525. She then moved up to level eight. She won vault, balance beam and the all-around at the California Classic. She also finished second on floor exercise and third on uneven bars. At the Heart of a Champion Invitational, Kristyn won floor exercise and the all-around. At the Level 8 State Championships, she placed second in the all-around as well as tied for second on uneven bars and third on vault. At the Level 8 Regionals, she placed seventh in the all-around and first on floor exercise. She made the National TOPs Team for the second time in the fall.
She moved up to level nine in 2009. She began the year by winning uneven bars and floor exercise at the Lady Luck Invitational. At the San Diego Classic, she won floor exercise and the all-around titles. She finished second on vault at the Hard Rock Invitational. Kristyn then won vault, uneven bars, floor exercise and the all-around at the California Classic. She had a great Regional meet, where she won vault, uneven bars, floor exercise and the all-around! Her final level nine meet of the season was the Level 9 Western Championships. There, she finished fourth in the all-around and first on uneven bars. Soon after, Kristyn qualified to hopes pre-elite at the SCEGA Elite Qualifier. She then finished second in the all-around at the July National Elite Qualifier in optionals. She had the top score in compulsories for hopes. In July at the US Challenge, Kristyn finished second in the all-around, third on uneven bars and first on floor exercise.
In 2010, Kristyn began her season at the San Diego Classic where she placed second in the all-around and first on vault. At the AOGC Invitational, Kristyn finished second in the all-around as well as second on vault and uneven bars. Kristyn then won the all-around title at the California Classic. At the Level 10 SoCal State Championships, she finished third in the all-around, third on uneven bars and second on balance beam. She then placed sixth in the all-around and first on vault at the Level 10 Regional Championships. There, she qualified to the Junior Olympic National Championships. Unfortunately, an injury kept Kristyn from competing at the JO Nationals and during the elite season. Kristyn had a surgery on her wrists in 2011 and was unable to compete all season.
Currently, Kristyn is training at SCEGA under coaches Luis Garcia, Kathy Strate and Merideth Paulicivic. She is looking forward for the 2012 season, where she hopes to have a successful season as a level 10 gymnast. Kristyn's long-term goal is to receive a full ride scholarship to a Division I school.
Kristyn Grace Hoffa was born on January 26, 1997 in California. She is the youngest of four children to Charlie and Lisa Hoffa. She has two dauschdunds, Shelby and Zoey. Currently, Kristyn is in 9th grade at Dehesa Charter School.
