At the age of six, Lauren was watching the 2000 Olympics on television one day and she told her mom that she wanted to try gymnastics. Her mom took her to Owego Scamps Gymnastics and she stayed here until 2003.
Lauren began competing as a level 5 in 2003. She finished first in the all-around, second on vault, third on uneven bars, and first on floor exercise at the Dare to Be Great Bright Raven Invitational in Rochester, NY. She then won the all-around title at the I Love NY Cup. In the fall, she competed as a level 7 at the Pinky Stone Invitational, where she finished third in the all-around. Lauren then moved up to level 8 and competed at the Level 8 Regionals. There, she finished 11th in the all-around. Besides the Junior Olympic program, Lauren has tested with the elite program, where she was a National Top "B" Team Member. By fall, Lauren started competing for Southern Tier Gymnastics Academy. She then made the "A" team in 2004.
First year as a level 10 in 2005, Lauren won the I Love NY Cup in beginning of February. At the Level 10 Regionals in Shelton, CT, Lauren placed 7th in the all-around and tied for third on floor exercise. She also qualified to her first JO National Championships. Later that summer, Lauren finished 18th in the all-around and 9th on balance beam at the US Challenge as a TOPS elite. She also made the National TOP Team.
Lauren continued competing as a level 10 in 2006. She finished sixth all-around and third on balance beam at I love NY Cup. She then easily qualified to JO Nationals in Oklahoma City, OK after placing third in the all-around and second on uneven bars and balance beam at the Level 10 Regionals. A few weeks later, she competed as a hopes elite at the US Challenge in Kansas City, MO, where she finished in the top ten.
In 2007, Lauren began her season with a gold medal in the all-around at the I Love NY Cup in early February. She finished fourth in the all-around and second on floor exercise at the Level 10 Regionals. At Lauren's 3rd JO National Championships in Mason, Ohio, she placed 18th on uneven bars and finished 33rd in the all-around.
Lauren began her 2008 season at a few open invitationals, such as I Love NY Cup and Niagara Cup. She finished first at both competitions. She qualified to Level 10 Regionals after placing third in the all-around, second on uneven bars and third on balance beam at the Level 10 State Championships. She then easily won the all-around title at the Level 10 Regionals in the end of April. When the month of May came by, Lauren was competing almost every weekend of that month. On the first week of May, Lauren and teammate Megan Walker went to Texas for the May National Elite Qualifier at the Texas Dreams Gymnastics. She did really well, where she qualified to her first VISA Championships. A few days later, Lauren finished fourth in the all-around and tied for second place on floor exercise at the JO Nationals in Orlando, Florida. A week later, Lauren traveled to Houston, Texas for the US Classic, where she placed 11th on uneven bars and finished 21st in the all-around. Two weeks later, it was off to Lauren's first VISA Championships in Boston, MA. While Lauren was at VISA Championships, Lauren had severs in her heel and landed short on a full-in during one of her practices. She had to scratch all events but uneven bars on the first day of competition. On the second day of competition, Lauren competed on all events except for floor exercise.
In 2009, Lauren started her season at the Parkette Invitational, where she finished second in the all-around and first on floor exercise. She then won the all-around title at the I Love NY Cup. At the Excalibur Cup, Lauren easily re-qualified to junior international after finishing second in the all-around and first on uneven bars and floor exercise. She then won the all-around title at the Palm Beach Invitational and Friendship Classic. Lauren concluded her season at the US Classic in Des Moines, Iowa.
At the beginning of 2010 season, Lauren won all-around titles at seven different competitions. She qualified to senior international elite at the Buckeye Elite Qualifier after winning the all-around title. At the Buckeye Classic as a level 10 gymnast, she won the all-around title and qualified to the Nastia Liukin Supergirl Cup. At the Supergirl Cup, she only competed on uneven bars due to a minor injury and finished sixth on uneven bars. Lauren then traveled to Florida for another elite qualifier and won another all-around title. There, she qualified to the VISA Championships in Hartford, CT. At the US Classic in Chicago, IL, she finished 12th in the all-around and eighth on vault. At the US Nationals, she placed 15th overall as well as ninth on floor exercise.
Lauren Kellie Beers was born on April 1, 1994 in Sayre, PA and is the oldest of seven children (five brothers and one sister). Lauren, a homeschooled 12th grader, loves all animals and you can always find her outside riding on a horse. The interesting fact is that her family owns a dairy farm! She also likes to read and use computer during her spare time. In September of 2010, Lauren verbally committed to the University of Alabama during the 2012-2013 school year.
