Lauren Nicole Kent was born on October 3, 1998 in Jacksonville, NC to Fred and Pam Kent. She has one brother, Quinton. Currently, Lauren is a senior at Southern Wake Academy and she will graduate in 2017.

Lauren started taking gymnastics classes for fun at Sonshine Gymnastics in 2003 and she has been there ever since. She started competing level 4 in 2006. She moved up to level 5 in 2007, finishing second on uneven bars and fourth in the all-around at the State Championships. In 2008, Lauren placed fourth on vault and floor exercise at the Level 7 State Championships.

As a level 8 gymnast in 2009, Lauren finished fourth in the all-around, first on balance beam and second on floor exercise at the State Championships. At the Region 8 Championships, she finished first on vault, balance beam and in the all-around with a 38.125. Lauren moved up to level 9 for the 2010 season. At the State Championships, she placed sixth in the all-around and fifth on vault. She did really well at the Region 8 Championships where she finished first on vault and in the all-around. She qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals where she placed third in the all-around and fourth on balance beam.

As a first-year level 10 gymnast in 2011, Lauren placed fifth in the all-around and third on balance beam at the State Championships. She placed seventh on floor exercise and 13th overall at the Region 8 Championships. Lauren qualified to the Junior Olympic NIT where she earned a bronze medal on floor exercise. In 2012, Lauren placed fifth on uneven bars and sixth on floor exercise at the Region 8 Championships. She qualified to the Junior Olympic NIT and placed fourth on balance beam.

In 2013, Lauren won the floor exercise title with a 9.650 at the Region 8 Championships. She qualified and competed at the Junior Olympic NIT where she finished sixth on uneven bars and in the all-around. In 2014, Lauren placed fourth in the all-around with a 37.075 and second on balance beam at the State Championships. She did really well at the Region 8 Championships where she finished fourth in the all-around with a 37.500, fifth on uneven bars and sixth on vault. She qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Jackson, MS.

Lauren finished second in the all-around and second on uneven bars at the 2015 State Championships. At the Region 8 Championships, she placed sixth in the all-around with a 37.800 and third on balance beam. She qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Des Moines, IA. In 2016, Lauren placed fourth in the all-around and first on uneven bars at the State Championships. At the Region 8 Championships, she finished second in the all-around with a 38.050, second on uneven bars and third on balance beam. Lauren qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Ft. Worth, TX where she placed 17th in the all-around, 7th on uneven bars and 9th on vault out of 58 gymnasts.

Currently, Lauren is preparing for the 2017 season as a level 10 gymnast. She trains about 20 hours per week at Sonshine Gymnastics in North Carolina under coaches Milan and Heidi Stanovich. Lauren verbally committed to North Carolina State University for the 2017-2018 school year.
