Lydia Hayden was born on April 15, 2004 in Colorado to Don and Helen Hayden. She has three older brothers, Ben, Noah and Nathan two older sisters, Jojo and Mariah and two dogs named Buck and Murphy. Currently, Lydia is an honor student at Broomfield High School and she will graduate from high school in 2022.

Lydia followed her older sister, Jojo into gymnastics when she was two years old in a Mommy and Me class. She started her gymnastics career at Gymnastics Unlimited Inc. Following her level 5 State Championships in December 2012, Lydia moved to TIGAR Gymnastics in Wheat Ridge, CO. She tested out of level 6 and quickly moved up to level 7 for the 2015 season. At the State Championships, she placed fifth on uneven bars with a 9.625. She qualified to the Region 3 Championships where she placed fourth on balance beam with a 9.450.

In 2016, Lydia tested out of level 8 after one meet and moved up to level 9 for the rest of the season. At the Level 9 State Championships, she placed fifth in the all-around and eighth on balance beam and floor exercise. Lydia had a great meet at the Region 3 Championships where she placed fifth in the all-around with a 37.800 and fifth on balance beam. She qualified to the Level 9 Western Nationals in Montana, finishing fifth on uneven bars with a 9.300. In the summer of 2016, Lydia moved to Colorado Gymnastics Institute in Aurora, CO. Lydia continued competing level 9 in 2017. At the State Championships, she placed second in the all-around with a 37.325 and first on uneven bars. She placed sixth on uneven bars and floor exercise scoring a 9.425 and 9.325 respectively at the Region 3 Championships.

Lydia finished fourth on floor exercise at the 2018 State Championships. She qualified to the Region 3 Championships in 2018 and 2019. In 2020, Lydia qualified to the Level 10 State Championships but was unable to compete due to COVID-19 pandemic. She placed in the top two in the all-around in every meet she competed in. In 2021, Lydia placed third on floor exercise at the Level 10 State Championships. At the Region 3 Championships, she finished in the top 15 in the all-around and tenth on uneven bars with a 9.500.

Lydia trains 28.5 hours per week at Colorado Gymnastics Institute in Aurora, CO under coaches Vinicio Leira, Sonia Leira and Lindy Franzini. Lydia's long-term goal is to compete for a Division I college gymnastics team.
