Madison "Maddie" Kampschroeder was born in February 1999 in Kansas to Daryl and Wendy Kampschroeder. She has a younger sister, Emma and two cats named Travis and Lily. Currently, Maddie is a senior in high school, graduating in the spring of 2017. During her spare time, she enjoys texting, shopping and hanging out with her friends.

Maddie's father was a former gymnast and taught gymnastics at Great American Gymnastics Express (GAGE) in Overland Park, KS. When he was coaching at GAGE, he brought Maddie to the gym with him and she started parent-tot gymnastics when she turned one years old. At the beginning of Maddie's gymnastics career, she trained at Emerald City Gymnastics in Overland Park, Kansas where she trained under coaches Carmen Bridges and Jennifer Utting. Maddie began competing in 2006 as a level 4 gymnast. In the summer of 2007, Maddie started training at Kansas Gymnastics & Cheer (KGDC) in Olathe, Kansas under coaches Anne Duncan and James Sampel.

As a level 6 gymnast in 2008, Maddie won the floor exercise title at the New Years Invitational and Jewels Invitational. At the Guaranteed Foods Invitational hosted by McCracken's Gymnastics, she won the balance beam title. Maddie then placed second on floor exercise at the March Madness. She concluded her 2008 season at the Level 6 State Championships finishing third in the all-around, third on balance beam and first on floor exercise.

Maddie began her 2009 season as a level 7 gymnast at the Judges Cup, where she placed fourth in the all-around and first on vault. At the New Years Invitational, she finished second in the all-around as well as second on vault and floor exercise and first on uneven bars. Maddie won the vault, uneven bars, floor exercise and all-around titles at the Diamond Invitational. At the Nadia Invitational, she placed third overall and first on floor exercise. Maddie won the all-around, uneven bars and floor exercise titles at the Pink Ribbon Invitational. At the Level 7 State Championships, Maddie finished fifth in the all-around and third on floor exercise.

In 2010, Maddie moved up to level 8. She placed third in the all-around at the New Years Invitational. At the Sand Dollar Invitational in Orlando, Florida, Maddie placed fourth overall and first on uneven bars. She then traveled to Dallas, Texas for the Metroplex Challenge, where she won the floor exercise title. At the IGI Chicago Style, Maddie placed fifth in the all-around and third on uneven bars. Maddie finished fourth in the all-around and third on floor exercise at the Pink Ribbon Invitational. At the Level 8 State Championships, Maddie earned a silver medal in the all-around as well as a silver medal on vault and bronze medals on uneven bars and floor exercise. There, she qualified to the Level 8 Regional Championships, where she finished 11th on floor exercise.

Maddie competed as a level 9 and HOPES pre-elite gymnast for the 2011 season. She placed second on floor exercise and in the all-around at the New Year Invitational. At the Gliders Invitational in California, she placed fifth on balance beam. She then traveled to Texas for the WOGA Classic. On the first day, she participated in her first elite qualifier. On the next day, she placed seventh in the all-around in the level 9 session. A few weeks later, she placed second in the all-around and second on uneven bars at the Pink Ribbon Invitational. There, she qualified to uneven bars and floor exercise event finals where she won a gold medal on bars! At the Level 9 State Championships, she earned a silver medal in the all-around as well as a gold medal on uneven bars and bronze medals on balance beam and floor exercise. She concluded her level 9 season at the Level 9 Regionals. Soon after, she continued to participate in several elite qualifiers where she successfully passed compulsories in hopes pre-elite.

Maddie started her 2012 season at the Folgers Invitational as a level 10 gymnast. She was injured most of the season and petitioned into Level 9 Regionals in April. She finished eighth in the all-around, sixth on balance beam and fifth on floor exercise, qualifying to the Level 9 Western Nationals in Boise, Idaho. At the Nationals, she finished 16th in the all-around, 16th on uneven bars and 15th on floor exercise out of 48 gymnasts.

In 2013, Maddie finished third in the all-around and second on uneven bars at the Meet Me in St. Louis. At the Alamo Classic, she placed fourth in the all-around and third on balance beam. She then finished third in the all-around and second on floor exercise at the Nadia Comaneci Invitational. Maddie had a great meet at the Pink Ribbon Invitational, finishing second in the all-around and first on vault and balance beam. At the State Championships, she finished third in the all-around and second on uneven bars. She qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals after finishing sixth in the all-around and fourth on uneven bars at the Level 10 Regionals. In November 2013, Maddie started training at Fuzion Gymnastics Center.

Maddie started her 2014 season at the Meet Me in St. Louis where she finished fifth in the all-around, first on uneven bars and second on balance beam. At the Circle of Stars Invitational, she earned gold medals on balance beam and in the all-around. At the Metroplex Challenge, she finished fourth in the all-around and second on balance beam. She had a solid meet at the Northern Lights Classic where she placed second on uneven bars and seventh in the all-around. At the State Championships, Maddie finished second in the all-around, first on uneven bars and second on balance beam. She placed fifth in the all-around, fourth on balance beam and fifth on uneven bars at the Region 4 Championships, qualifying to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Jackson, MS. At the Nationals, Maddie finished 18th on balance beam out of 56 gymnasts.

In 2015, Maddie finished third in the all-around and third on floor exercise at the Meet Me in St. Louis. At the Nadia Comaneci Invitational, she placed third on uneven bars. She earned gold medals on uneven bars, floor exercise and in the all-around at the St. Louis Classic. Maddie earned a bronze medal on uneven bars at the Region 4 Championships. In 2016, Maddie earned gold medals on uneven bars, floor exercise and in the all-around at the St. Louis Classic. At the California Classic, she finished second on floor exercise. She concluded her 2016 season at the State Championships with a bronze medal on uneven bars, her only event.

Currently, Maddie is preparing for the 2017 season as a level 10 gymnast. She trains 20 hours per week at Fuzion Gymnastics Center in Kearney, MO under coaches Jackie Flanery-Heredia and Michael Heredia. Maddie verbally committed to the University of Iowa for the 2017-2018 school year.
