Madeleine "Maddy" Riordan was born on August 2, 2001 in New York City, NY to Chris and Melissa Riordan. She has a younger brother, Liam. Currently, Maddy is a student at The Nightingale-Bamford School and she will graduate from high school in 2019. When Maddy has time outside of gymnastics, she enjoys spending time with her friends and taking vacations with her family.

At the age of six in 2008, Maddy attended gymnastics-themed birthday parties and developed a love for the sport and a passion to compete from there. She started her competitive gymnastics career at Wendy Hilliard Gymnastics Foundation in New York City, NY where she trained under coaches Wendy Hilliard, Patrice Armour and Fabu Cox. As a level 4 gymnast in 2013, Maddy finished first in the all-around with a 38.150 and first on floor exercise at the State Championships. She qualified to the 2014 Level 5 State Championships. In the summer of 2014, Maddy moved to Chelsea Piers Gymnastics in New York City, NY.

Maddy moved up to level 6 in 2015 where she finished fifth in the all-around, first on floor exercise and second on vault. As a level 7 gymnast in 2016, Maddy won the all-around title at the State Championships. She also placed second on vault and floor exercise and fourth on uneven bars and balance beam. Maddy moved up to level 8 for the 2017 season where she earned a bronze medal on floor exercise at the State Championships. In 2018 as a level 9 gymnast, Maddy placed third on vault and fourth on floor exercise at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 6 Championships, finishing fourth on vault and ninth on balance beam and floor exercise.

Maddy trains 21-32 hours per week at Chelsea Piers Gymnastics in New York City, NY under coaches Chris McClain, Elena Olenik, James Jackson, Fernando Pizzaro and Desiree Sanchez. Maddy would like to place at the Region 6 Championships and National Championships the next two years. Her long-term goal is to compete at the collegiate level.
