Madeline Kees was born on Demember 29, 2003 in Illinois to Justin and Lisa Kees. She has a younger brother, Jackson. Currently, Madeline is an honor student at DeKalb High School and will graduate in 2022. During her spare time, she enjoys baking and riding her bike.

Madeline started gymnastics at the age of three in a mommy and me class because she was always full of energy and needed a way to get all the energy and excitement out. She fell in love with the sport and quickly progressed in the sport at Energym Gymnastics in DeKalb, IL. As a level 4 gymnast in 2012, Madeline grabbed gold medals on balance beam, floor exercise end in the all-around with a 38.550 at the State Championships. In 2013 as a level 5 gymnast, she placed first in the all-around with a 38.325 and first on uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise at the State Championships. Madeline was named to America's Top 100 on floor exercise.

In 2014, Madeline skipped level 6 and moved up to level 7. She placed eighth in the all-around with a 37.675, third on floor exercise and fourth on vault at the State Championships. She had a great level 8 season in 2015 where she placed first in the all-around with a 38.025 and fourth on floor exercise at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 5 Championships, finishing fourth in the all-around with a 37.975 and third on vault and uneven bars.

Madeline competed as a level 9 the next two seasons. She earned a silver medal on balance beam at the 2016 State Championships. At the Region 5 Championships, she placed sixth in the all-around with a 37.150 and third on balance beam. She qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals in Virginia, finishing seventh on uneven bars and eighth on floor exercise. In 2017, Madeline placed third in the all-around with a 37.600, first on uneven bars and third on floor exercise at the State Championships. At the Region 5 Championships, she placed fourth in the all-around with a 37.525, third on floor exercise and fourth on uneven bars. She qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals in Michigan for the second time where she placed eighth in the all-around, first on floor exercise and third on uneven bars. Madeline was named to America's Top 100 in both seasons on uneven bars and balance beam.

As a first-year level 10 gymnast in 2018, Madeline placed fourth on floor exercise at the State Championships. At the Region 5 Championships, she finished fourth in the all-around and fifth on balance beam. She qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Ohio. In 2019, Madeline placed third in the all-around and second on floor exercise at the State Championships. She qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals after finishing seventh in the all-around and sixth on floor exercise at the Region 5 Championships. In 2020, Madeline qualified to the Level 10 State Championships but was unable to compete due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Madeline trains 20 hours per week at Energym Gymnastics in DeKalb, IL under coach Andy Morreale. Madeline is working hard to qualify to the Junior Olympic Nationals again. Her long-term goal is to obtain a Division I college gymnastics scholarship.
