Madeline "Maddy" Reid was born on March 20, 2004 in South Carolina to John and Abby Reid. Currently, she is an honor student at Gray Collegiate Academy and she will graduate in 2022. She is a member of National Honor Society. During Maddy's spare time, she enjoys dancing, art and going to football games. She is a ballet dancer (en pointe) at a local dance studio.

Maddy's parents were coaches at a gym, so she was practically born into gymnastics. When she turned three years old, her parents were not sure what to do with Maddy because she was flipping around the gym so much that she did not fit into a regular class. The gym started a level 1 team that year and Maddy started competing right after her fourth birthday. Maddy was the 2011 Level 5 SC State Uneven Bars Champion and three-time TOPs National Qualifier.

In 2014, Maddy attended developmental invitational camp. As a level 8 gymnast, Maddy placed second on uneven bars and fifth in the all-around at the 2014 State Championships and third on vault, uneven bars and in the all-around at the 2015 State Championships. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships both years. She was on the Level 8 South Carolina State Team. Maddy moved up to level 9 in 2016 where she placed third on balance beam and fifth in the all-around, qualifying to Regionals. As a first-year level 10 gymnast in 2017, Maddy placed second in the all-around and first on floor exercise at the State Championships. In 2019, she was named alternate for the Junior Olympic Nationals after finishing ninth in the all-around and seventh on uneven bars at the Region 8 Championships. She also earned gold medals on uneven bars, floor exercise and in the all-around at the 2019 State Championships.

Maddy qualified to the 2020 Level 10 State Championships but was unable to compete due to COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, Maddy placed ninth in the all-around with a 37.225 and eighth on floor exercise at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships.
