Maggie Marinovich was born on June 5, 2000 in Edina, MN. She is the youngest of three children to Mike and Patti Marinovich. During Maggie's spare time, she enjoys playing the flute and hanging out with her family and friends. Currently, Maggie is a senior at Edina High School and she will graduate from high school in the spring of 2018. She plays flute in varsity band, marching band and pep band at her high school. She is a member of leadership and service group, 212. Maggie has been an assistant counselor during the summer at Camp High Harbor - YMCA in Lake Burton, GA for three years.
Maggie had a lot of energy when she was two years old, so her mom decided to enroll her into gymnastics. Her mom is a former gymnast and she thought gymnastics is a safe and fun place for Maggie to burn off energy.
As a level 7 gymnast in 2011, Maggie qualified to the State Championships. She moved up to level 8 in 2012 where she finished fifth on floor exercise at the State Championships, qualifying to the Region 4 Championships. She continued competing level 8 in 2013 and qualified to the Region 4 Championships. In 2014, Maggie competed as a level 9 gymnast and competed at the State Championships. As a second-year level 9 gymnast in 2015, Maggie finished sixth in the all-around and fourth on uneven bars at the State Championships. At the Region 4 Championships, she placed sixth in the all-around and fourth on balance beam and floor exercise. This qualified Maggie to the Level 9 Western Nationals in Spokane, WA. As a third-year level 9 gymnast in 2016, Maggie finished fourth in the all-around, fourth on vault and balance beam and qualified to the Level 9 Western Nationals in Montana. In 2017, Maggie placed first in the all-around with a 37.200 and first on vault at the State Championships. At the Region 4 Championships, she finished sixth in the all-around, second on floor exercise and third on vault. Maggie qualified to the Level 9 Western Nationals in Boise, ID where she placed fifth in the all-around.
Currently, Maggie is preparing for the 2018 season as a level 9/10 gymnast. She is a team captain. She trains over 20 hours per week at Classic Gymnastics in Chanhassen, MN under coaches Bryon Hough and Charise Schrupp. Maggie is working hard to reach her goal to compete for a Division 1 college gymnastics team.
