MaKayla Monet Bullitt was born on May 29, 1998 in Dallas, Texas to Kenneth and Marta Bullitt. MaKayla comes from a large family of eleven! She has eight siblings; Tenesha, Kendrea, Latoya, Reve, Brie, Chantz, Summer and Makenzie. Currently, MaKayla is a homeschooled eighth grader where her favorite subject is math. During her spare time, she likes to do crafts and to hang out with her friends.

At the age of four, MaKayla was flipping so much around the house so her parents decided to put her into gymnastics at Canyon Creek Gymnastics & Tumbling. She has been there ever since! She began competing as a level 5 in 2006. She finished in the top twenty all-around at the Level 5 District Championships. She moved up to level six in 2007. MaKayla finished ninth in the all-around and fourth on uneven bars at the Level 6 State Championships.

In 2009, MaKayla competed as a level 7 gymnast. She finished third in the all-around and first on vault at the Texas Prime Meet. MaKayla won the vault title at the Metroplex Challenge. She placed third on uneven bars at the North State Championships. At the Level 7 State Championships, MaKayla placed first on uneven bars and floor exercise as well as third in the all-around.

MaKayla competed one level eight meet in December of 2009 where she placed first on uneven bars and in the all-around at the Candy Cane Classic. In January, she quickly moved up to level 9 and won vault, uneven bars, balance beam and the all-around at the Sand Dollar Invitational in Orlando, Florida. MaKayla finished third on balance beam at the WOGA Classic. She then placed first on uneven bars, balance beam and in the all-around at the Kurt Thomas Invitational. She did not compete in the championship season.

She started her 2011 season as a level 10 gymnast at the Tiger Classic where she finished tenth in the all-around and fourth on vault. At the Metroplex Challenge, she placed fourth on vault and sixth on vault. MaKayla placed third in the all-around at the Zenith Spring Invitational. At the Level 10 Texas State Championships, she placed tenth in the all-around and eighth on floor exercise. In April, MaKayla placed impressive third in the all-around as well as first on balance beam and third on vault at the Level 10 Regionals. There, she qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Long Beach, California in May. She concluded her level 10 season at the JO Nationals where she placed 19th in the all-around out of 57 gymnasts.

In 2012, Makayla started her season at the Sand Dollar Invitational, finishing third in the all-around as well as first on vault and uneven bars. At the Kurt Thomas Invitational, she placed second in the all-around and first on vault and floor exercise. She did really well at the Metroplex Challenge, finishing first on vault and balance beam and second in the all-around with a 37.950. At the Texas Prime Meet, MaKayla placed fourth i nthe all-around and third on vault. She then placed first on vault and in the all-around at the Zenith Spring Invitational. At the Level 10 State Championships, MaKayla finished second on floor exercise and in the all-around with a 38.150 as well as first on vault. She won the uneven bars title at the Level 10 Regionals, qualifying to the Junior Olympic NIT in Hampton, VA. At the JO NIT, she finished fifth in the all-around.

MaKayla trains about 43 hours a week at Canyon Creek Gymnastics & Tumbling under coaches, Bill & Debbie Ridge. Currently, she is training for the upcoming 2013 season. She would like to qualify to junior international elite as well as make to the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
