Makenna has been climbing and tumbling fearlessly since she was a small baby. She finally talked her parents into putting her into a recreational gymnastics class when she turned ten years old in 2013. She excelled from xcel bronze to level 10 in 6 years.

When Makenna was training at Port City Gymnastics in North Carolina, she won the vault title at the Xcel State Championships and placed seventh in the all-around with a 37.150 at the Region 8 Xcel Regionals. She then went and placed third in the all-around and second on uneven bars at the Level 6 State Championships and sixth on uneven bars at the 2017 Level 7 State Championships. Following her 2017 season, she moved to Gymnastics & More in Little River, SC. She tested out of level 8 and quickly moved up to level 9 for the 2018 season where she placed fourth on vault at the State Championships. In 2019, Makenna placed second on vault and fourth in the all-around at the State Championships. She was the Level 9 Regional Vault Champion. In 2020, Makenna qualified to the Level 9 State Championships but was unable to compete due to COVID-19 pandemic.

When Makenna is not training over 18 hours each week in the gym, she enjoys shopping, going to the beach and hanging out with her family and friends. She is taking Honors and AP classes at Ashley High School. She is also a member of National Honor Society.
