Welcome to the Official Website of Makenzie Johnson! Makenzie is a 18-year-old level 10 gymnast from Elite Champion Gymnastics training under coaches Helen Verucchi and Anatoli Toropov.

The highlights of Makenzie’s gymnastics career to date have been placing fifth in the all-around at the 2007 Level 9 Westerns, and the next year earning the all-around and vault titles at the Junior Olympic National Invitational Tournament as the youngest competitor in the Junior C division. She also won second on uneven bars and fourth on floor exercise at the JO-National Invitational Tournament (NIT). In 2010, Makenzie placed fourth in the all-around at the Texas State Championships. Although she was ill and out of the gym the week before Region III Championships, she placed tenth in the all-around and qualified to the 2010 JO-NIT. There she took second place on vault and seventh in the all-around. In 2011, Makenzie finished fifth in the all-around and sixth on uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise at the Level 10 Texas State Championships. At the Level 10 Regionals, she won a silver medal on vault. At the Junior Olympic NIT, she placed second in the all-around and third on vault.

Makenzie has verbally committed to Brigham Young University and will join the BYU gymnastics team during the 2012-2013 school year.

Currently, Makenzie is training for upcoming 2012 season. Makenzie is looking forward to continuing her passion of gymnastics in college. This website was created for college coaches to be introduced to this fun, gutsy gymnast and stay informed of her progress. Makenzie is the team leader at ECG, and one coach has described her as “durable” because she has had very few injuries. She’s not afraid to try new skills and performs well under pressure. We appreciate your continued support of Makenzie in this sport she loves.
