Mary Brook Barton was born on July 10, 2003 in Birmingham, AL to Bobby and Mindy Barton. She has two brothers, Hunter and Jackson and two dogs named Chester and Dixie. Currently, Mary Brook is an honor student at Hoover High School and she will graduate in 2021. She earned highest math average in 6th and 7th grade and best all-around in 7th grade. Mary Brook is actively involved in Shades Mountain Baptist Church.

Mary Brook tried ballet but did not like it, so her parents decided to put her in gymnastics because she loved to flip. She started her gymnastics career at JamJev Gymnastics in 2008 and has been there ever since. She started competing level 4 in 2010 where she placed fourth in the all-around, first on balance beam and second on vault at the State Championships. As a level 5 gymnast in 2011, she finished in the top 15 in the all-around at the State Championships. In 2012, she placed third in the all-around, second on vault and third on uneven bars at the Level 5 State Championships.

Mary Brook tested out of level 6 and quickly moved up to level 7 for the 2014 season. She finished third in the all-around with a 37.725, second on floor exercise and third on uneven bars at the State Championships. She was a member of Alabama State Team at the Region 8 Championships where she finished 18th in the all-around with a 37.425. As a level 8 gymnast in 2015, Mary Brook placed first in the all-around with a 37.550, first on vault and second on floor exercise at the State Championships. She made the Alabama State Team for the Region 8 Championships and finished 16th overall with a 37.000.

As a first-year level 9 gymnast in 2016, Mary Brook placed seventh in the all-around, third on vault and fourth on uneven bars at the State Championships. At the Region 8 Championships, she placed 13th overall. In 2017, Mary Brook finished second in the all-around, first on balance beam and third on vault and uneven bars at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships.

In 2018, Mary Brook moved up to level 10. At the State Championships, she placed third in the all-around, third on balance beam and fourth on uneven bars. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships, finishing ninth on uneven bars.In 2019, Mary Brook placed fourth in the all-around and third on uneven bars at the State Championships. She qualified to the Region 8 Championships where she scored a 37.050 in th all-around and placed ninth on uneven bars.

Mary Brook trains 23 hours per week at JamJev Gymnastics in Bessemer, AL under coaches John and Dara Lowery. Mary Brook's long-term goal is to attain a scholarship and compete Division I college gymnastics.
