Megan Rose Thompson was born on February 13, 2000 in Denver, Colorado to Tom and Sherrie Thompson. She has three siblings, Luke, Kade and Brinley and a yellow labrador retriever named Abby. Currently, Megan is a senior at Basha High School and she will graduate from high school in the spring of 2018. She currently maintains a 4.0 GPA. During Megan's spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, swimming, hiking and reading.

Megan had a lot of energy and she would try acro skills off the furniture at a young age. Her parents figured it was time for safe, structured, formal gymnastics training with actual gymnastics equipment. Megan immediately took to gymnastics because she loves to learn new skills and become better at what she does each day. She has been training at Desert Lights Gymnastics her whole gymnastics career.

She was the 2010 Level 6 Arizona State all-around, vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise champion. In 2011, Megan placed in the top four in every meet and her highest level 7 score was a 38.450. She brought home gold medals on uneven bars, balance beam and in the all-around as well as bronze medals on vault and floor exercise at the Level 7 Arizona State Championships. As a level 8 gymnast in 2012, Megan placed second in the all-around at the Fiesta Bowl Invitational and Mardi Gras Challenge. At the Level 8 Arizona State Championships, she placed second on uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercise and in the all-around. She qualified to the Region 1 Championships where, Megan placed fourth in the all-around and first on uneven bars.

As a level 9 gymnast in 2013, Megan earned gold medals on uneven bars and in the all-around at the Arizona State Championships. At the Region 1 Championships, Megan placed ninth in the all-around and sixth on balance beam. She qualified to the Level 9 Western Nationals. She also competed at the National Elite Qualifier in HOPES pre-elite.

In 2014, Megan moved up to level 10. At the State Championships, she finished fourth in the all-around and third on uneven bars, qualifying to the Region 1 Championships. In 2015, Megan finished fourth in the all-around and first on uneven bars and balance beam at the State Championships. She only competed three events at the Region 1 Championships. Megan did really well at the 2016 State Championships, finishing third in the all-around and second on vault and uneven bars. She qualified to the Region 1 Championships. In 2017, Megan finished fifth in the all-around and third on uneven bars at the State Championships. At the Region 1 Championships, she placed second on floor exercise and sixth on balance beam.

Currently, Megan is preparing for the 2018 season. She trains 24 hours per week at Desert Lights Gymnastics in Chandler, AZ under coaches Lisa and John Spini, Bruce McGehee, Bob Peterson, Neela Nelson and Carrie Ward. Megan verbally committed to the University of Nebraska for the 2018-2019 school year.
