Melissa Kim Brozier was born on October 21, 1998 in Hoi An, Vietnam. She currently lives in Mentor, OH with her parents, Robert and Kim Brozier and her brother, Matthew.
Currently, Melissa is a senior at Mentor High School and she will graduate in 2017. She is a member of improv club, ecology club and Synergy (Student activist club). Melissa competes for her high school gymnastics team where she helped the team to finish second at the Division I High School State Championships in 2014 and 2015. She was a member of her track and field high school team in long jump. She qualified to Division I High School Regionals in 2014 and her long jump personal record was a 16 feet 9 1/2 inches.
Melissa qualified to Region 5 Championships in level 8 in 2011. In 2013, she finished first in the all-around, first on vault and second on uneven bars and floor exercise at the Level 8 State Championships. At the Region 5 Championships, she earned a bronze medal on vault.
In 2014, Melissa finished sixth in the all-around and fifth on balance beam at the Division High School State Championships. At the Level 9 State Championships, she placed second on floor exercise and fourth on vault. She was named News Herald Gymnast of the Year and she earned Northeast Ohio Conference (NOC) all District and All State.
Melissa had a great season in 2015 where she placed second in the all-around with a 36.900 at the Level 9 State Championships. She also placed second on balance beam and floor exercise as well as third on vault. Melissa qualified to the Region 5 Championships and finished ninth in the all-around and first on vault with a 9.700. She was the second alternate for the Level 9 Eastern Nationals. Melissa was named News Herald Gymnast of the Year and she earned Northeast Ohio Conference (NOC) all District and All State for the second year in row.
In 2016, Melissa competed as a level 10 gymnast where she finished fourth on balance beam at the State Championships and eighth on vault at the Region 5 Championships.
Melissa trains 16 hours per week at Lake Erie Gymnastics School in Mentor, OH under coaches Elizabeth Meaney, Wendy Floriea and Joe Corrigan. Melissa is working hard to become a successful level 10 gymnast where she hopes to qualify to the JO Nationals. Her long-term goal is to compete for a college gymnastics team.
