Michael Savannah Sanders was born on August 24, 1999 in Brunswick, GA. Currently, she lives in Saint Simons Island, GA with her mom, Diana, Nicole, two brothers, Jack and Trent and two sisters, Hayden and Avery. Michael is a senior at Glynn Academy and Georgia Virtual School and she will graduate from high school in 2017.

Michael and her brother went to open gym one day when she was seven years old in 2006. Coach Victor saw how strong she was and he immediately told her mom that she should put Michael on the team. Her mom wanted Michael to start with recreational classes to see how much she liked it. Michael started her competitive gymnastics career at Golden Isles Gymnastics in Brunswick, GA where she trained under coaches Viktar, Olga Vystokski and Yuri Kalinin.

As a level 8 gymnast in 2013, Michael earned a bronze medal on uneven bars at the Hilton Head Island Invitational. At the Jekyll Island Invitational, she placed third in the all-around and third on vault and uneven bars. Michael placed second in the all-around, first on uneven bars and second on balance beam at the Camden Princess Invitational. She concluded her 2013 season at the Pink Invitational, finishing third on balance beam.

Michael continued competing level 8 for the 2014 season. At the Sterling Classic, she placed second in the all-around and second on balance beam. At the National Gymnastics Challenge, she placed third in the all-around and second on balance beam. Michael finished fourth in the all-around and third on uneven bars and floor exercise at the State Championships. At the Region 8 Championships, she placed second in the all-around and first on balance beam. In the summer of 2014, Michael started training at Starlight Gymnastics in Jacksonville, FL.

In 2015, Michael started her level 9 season at the Atlanta Crown Invitational, finishing first on uneven bars, balance beam and in the all-around. At the Sand Dollar Invitational, she finished second in the all-around and first on balance beam. She placed fourth in the all-around and first on balance beam at the Metroplex Challenge. At the LaFleur's Invitational, she finished third in the all-around and third on uneven bars and balance beam. Michael had a solid meet at the Pink Invitational where she placed first on vault, balance beam and in the all-around. At the Tim Rand Invitational, she placed eighth in the all-around, second on balance beam and third on vault. Michael finished third in the all-around and second on vault at the State Championships. At the Region 8 Championships, she placed fourth in the all-around, third on vault and fourth on balance beam. This qualified Michael to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals in Kissimmee, FL where she placed sixth in the all-around and first on balance beam.

Michael finished seventh in the all-around, first on balance beam and fourth on vault at the 2016 State Championships. At the Region 8 Championships, she placed fourth on balance beam.

Currently, Michael is preparing for the 2017 season as a level 10 gymnast. She trains 20 hours per week at Starlight Gymnastics in Jacksonville, FL under coaches Vessy Ivanov and Cheri Gillikin. Michael is working hard to become a successful level 10 gymnast as well as to compete for a college gymnastics team.
