Monica Ashley Servidio was born on April 8, 1999 in Freehold, NJ. Monica is the middle child of three to John and Carol Servidio. She has an older sister, Alexis, a younger brother, Justin and two dogs named Valentino and Bella. Currently, Monica is a senior in high school and she will graduate in 2017.
Monica had tons of energy as a child, so her parents decided to enroll her into a gymnastics class for fun when Monica was three years old. She trained at Devlin Gymnastics until 2007. She moved to Action Gymnastics in Howell, NJ to train under coach Magda During and has been there ever since.
During Monica's first two years at Action Gymnastics, she broke two New Jersey state records, Level 5 State all-around score in 2008 and Level 6 State uneven bars set in 2009. Both she currently holds today. Monica was also 2007 Level 4 State all-around champion, 2008 Level 5 State all-around champion and 2009 Level 6 State all-around silver medalist. In the fall of 2008, she made the National TOPs Team.
As a level 7 gymnast in 2009, Monica qualified to the State Championships. In 2010, she moved up to level 8 where she finished fourth in the all-around and fourth on balance beam at the State Championships.
In 2011, Monica qualified to the Level 9 Eastern Nationals after finishing fifth in the all-around at the Region 7 Championships. At the Easterns, she placed in the top 15 on vault, balance beam and floor exercise. Monica moved up to level 10 for the 2012 season. Monica did well at the State Championships, finishing fifth in the all-around, fifth on uneven bars and third on balance beam. She qualified to the Region 7 Championships. In 2013, Monica finished eighth in the all-around and seventh on balance beam at the State Championships. She was unable to compete at Regionals due to an injury.
Monica competed in high school gymnastics in the fall of 2013. She finished fifth in the all-around and second on balance beam at the NJSIAA High School State Championships. Monica was named First Team NJ All State, First Team NJ All Shore and First Team NJ All Region. She was named MVP for her team as well. She also earned a special award from Freehold Regional for her accomplishments.
In 2014, Monica placed fifth in the all-around with a 36.700, first on balance beam and floor exercise at the State Championships. At the Region 7 Championships, Monica finished 15th in the all-around and seventh on balance beam out of 39 gymnasts.
Monica finished sixth in the all-around and sixth on uneven bars and balance beam at the 2015 State Championships. She qualified to the 2015 Region 7 Championships and 2016 Region 7 Championships.
Currently, Monica is preparing for the upcoming 2017 season where she hopes to qualify to the Junior Olympic Nationals. She trains 28 hours per week at Action Gymnastics in Howell, NJ under coaches Magda During, Tatiana Tcheremnykh and Val Tcheremnykh. Her long-term goal is to compete for a Division 1 school gymnastics team.
